TRAINING WEEK

21 Mar 2021
Deportivo is resting before playing the last matchday. De La Barrera is having problems as he is missing six players.

Another weekend without football for Deportivo. While the rest of Segunda B is playing the last matchday, subgroup 1A is having a forced rest as Racing Ferrol are completing their pending two games. They already lost at Coruxo FC (3-1) and play on Sunday hosting CD Guijuelo.

The result of the first game is important for Deportivo as now they can only tie in points with Los Blanquiazules and they also visit second place Unionistas on next weekend. All of this just increases the chances of Depor, though they will still depending on winning their game against Zamora CF (March 28, Riazor, 12h00 CET) and to have a couple of favorable scores in other fields.

The delay of the last matchday is the reason why Depor reduced the pace during the week, the first team rested on Monday and Tuesday and only completed four training sessions on the week. Coach Rubén De La Barrera used the occasion to polish tactical aspects during the sessions.

Despite it was a week without football and after clinching a victory, there’s a sense of worry at Abegondo. And it’s that five players are out of the normal routine. Derik Osede is out for the remaining of the season after been operated from an Achilles injury.

A second centre-back is out until Wednesday, and it’s Mujaid Sadick, who was in contact with a COVID-19 case and is in isolation until the middle of next week. So, for now the team is training with only one centre-back available.

Celso Borges isn’t recovered from a hamstring strain and is unknown if he will be available for the last matchday. The same goes for Héctor Hernández, he suffered a muscle injury in the game at Celta B and is uncertain if he will be able to play.

Then the case of José Lara, the winger suffered a knock in the knee during Wednesday’s session and is training at the gym since then. The final absentee has been Eneko Bóveda, he trained apart on Saturday, but he should be fine for the game at the Riazor as it’s normal to rest him at least once per week.
