Deportivo will try to increase its lead in the intermediate group as it also tries to clear the disappointment for no longer aspiring to the promotion. The rival will try to harm through their dangerous counterattack.

Referee: Manuel Pozueta Rodríguez
Kick-off: 19h00 CET (Riazor)

Marino Luanco arrive to the intermediate league been the team with lesser points, but at the same time they are the most in-form team of the subgroup. And it’s that, within the last nine matchdays, they only lost twice and added 17 points. A mark that only Burgos CF improved in the whole group 1 (22).

As a way of comparison, Deportivo represent the team with more points in the subgroup and managed to win the last three games in the first round, but still the Galicians only added 14 points within the last 9 matchdays. That’s three lesser points than Marino Luanco.

Marino and Deportivo have never coincided in a league tournament, but both clubs already faced each other in Copa De Rey. It was for the season 2001/02, Depor started the Copa campaign that was going to lead them to their second Copa Del Rey visiting Marino in a one-leg series in which Depor prevailed 1-4 with a brace from Pandiani (November 7, 2001).

There’s a huge disappointment after Deportivo failed to clinch their presence in the promotion round, for that reason it’s feared the reaction of a team without a motivation and that still has to secure the permanence in the third tier. Coach Rubén De La Barrera has stated that the season isn’t over and that the team cannot lose the concentration until reaching the goal, and a victory in this game would mean a huge step in the right direction.

Celso Borges received the medical okay to play, he was tested as a possible starter in one of the three possible formations tested on Saturday. But it’s not probable as he already spent more than a month without playing. The expected formation is a 4-3-3 with José Lara entering for Uche Agbo, while Rai Nascimento would delay his position on the pitch.

Team news: Uche Agbo is suspended after picking the fifth yellow card on the season, while Derik Osede remains at the injury room. The remaining twenty players were picked by the coach, including Héctor Hernández, who received the medical okay to play on Saturday.

Man to watch: Winger Keko Gontán. A lot was expected from the Madrilenian player for this season, and his contribution arrived late, but it’s ongoing as he is currently the most in-form player at the team. Depor have won its last three games and with Keko was the star in those meetings after scoring twice and providing an assist.

Picked players: (20) Carlos Abad, Lucho García (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, Jorge Valín, Borja Granero, Mujaid Sadick, Salva Ruiz, Héctor Hernández (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Celso Borges, Yago Gandoy, Diego Villares, Keko Gontán, Nacho González, Borja Galán, José Lara (midfielders); Miku, Raí Nascimento, Rayco Rodríguez & Claudio Beauvue (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Lucho García – Bóveda, Mujaid, Borja Granero, Salva Ruiz – Villares, Álex Bergantiños, Rai – Keko Gontán, Miku, Lara.
Marino Luanco were in deep problems at the end of the first round, they have only won one game and it was then that coach José Manuel Menéndez ‘Manel’ was hired, and he turned a team full of doubts into the second-best team in the whole group. And the formula was to build up a line of five defenders that later exploits the counterattack. It worked for them and the game at the Riazor promises to be a favorable scenario to exploit their winning formula.

Team news: Midfielder Guille Pinin is the only player out for injury reasons. The coach picked the remaining 18 players at the first team. Winger Michel Madera started the season with the team, but he retired on last month.

Man to watch: Playmaker Álex Arias. The formula of Marino is simple: a game based in a strong defence that later tries to unleash the counterattack and the direct game, and Álex Arias is important on this as he is the key man for the long and quick passes. He is also key for the set-pieces, he scored twice from the penalty spots and is one of the three top-scorers at the team (3).

Picked players: (18) Chechu Grana, Carlos Aramburu (goalkeepers); Borja Álvarez, Sergio Orviz, Emilio Morilla, Adrián Trabanco, Guaya, Miguel Prado (defenders); Nacho Matador, Álex Arias, César Suárez,
Iván Fernández, Alberto Lora, Luis Morán, Borja Rodríguez (midfielders); Sergio Mendi, Enol Rodríguez & Óscar Castellano ‘Chiqui’ (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (5-4-1) Grana – Borja Álvarez, Morilla, Trabanco, Miguel Prado, Guaya – Luis Morán, Nacho Matador, Álex Arias, Alberto Lora – Mendi.
