LOTINA'S MYSTERY 0

12 Mar 2008
Coach Miguel Angel Lotina hasnt gave any clue abut the line-up that hes thinking to use against Real Madrid fro this Saturdays confrontation. On Wednesday, he just worked the set-pieces with the group. The good news was to see Adrin back in the squad. Meanwhile, it seems that Ruud van Nistelrooy won't be fit to play at the Riazor.

Wednesday's first training session was marked by the presence of Adrin, the Asturian striker has surpassed his ankle problem and he worked without any problem. Therefore the only casualties remaining in the squad are Cristian Hidalgo (knee) and Gustavo Muna. However, Xisco and Lafita didn't end the training for precaution reasons, but it's expected that both men will be fit to play on Saturday's encounter. Meanwhile, five Fabril's players took part of the session: Chapi, Piscu, Laure, Manu and Fabricio,

After this first session, Andrs Guardado said at Abegondo's press room that he's ready to return, but that at the same time, he's aware hat Lotina might have better options in order to face Real Madrid "I'm conscious that maybe my team mates are in better shape, but it's OK. It's part of the job. I am coming back after a long injury. Now I'm starting from zero and I have to win a place in the squad."

No tactical schemes were tested during the training that took place in the morning, neither in the session that took place in the afternoon at the Riazor. Lotina worked behind closed doors and the squad spent the time preparing some strategic moves like the set-pieces. The question remaining is to know who will play in both wings, and if Lotina will finally decide to include Guardado in the squad for the game.

REAL MADRID: VAN NISTELROOY OUT?
According to Madrilenian sportpaper AS, Ruud van Nistelrooy who already surpassed an ankle problem, won't play at the Riazor on this Saturday. Apparently coach Bernd Schuster and Real Madrid's doctors are fearing to have a similar situation than the one lived by Pepe a couple of weeks ago. The Portuguese defender forced his comeback for the game against Atltico Madrid and as a result of this, he suffered a muscular injury that left him out of action for a full month.

And a similar situation was lived with Heinze a couple of months ago, the Argentinean defender forced his condition in order to play against Zaragoza, as result of this, he suffered a muscular injury that left him out of the squad during one and a half month. Therefore, AS affirms that with the big difference with Barcelona in the table, Van Nistelrooy wont be risked and the Dutch striker will be reserved for the next game against Valencia, while it's expected that his spot in the line-up will be for Gonzalo Higuan or for Julio Baptista.

Meanwhile, it's expected that Wesley Sneijder will keep his place in midfield, same thing than Mahamadou Diarra, Guti, Robinho and Ral. The doubts are in the defensive sector, zone in which Schuster has big questions due to the casualties for the game: Michel Salgado (left knee), Christoph Metzelder (Achilles), Sergio Ramos (suspended). Fabio Cannavaro (ankle) still doubtful for the game and on Wednesdays session, the Italian trained separated from the group. The novelty was to see six players from Castilla training with the first team: Parejo, Chema Antn, Sergio, Mateos, Vzquez and Tbar.

Pepe talked after the training and gave his opinion about the current moment of Real Madrid and also about the upcoming game with Depor "Eight points is an important advantage, but we still have a lot of liga ahead of us and we must keep fighting, because we still have to face tough games. It will be complicated to defeat Deportivo in its stadium, place where they recently defeated Sevilla and where they are improving a lot. Besides, they will be motivated since they are facing the leader. Well have to fight a lot."
