THE GOOD OLD TIMES

27 Mar 2008
Lotina's Deportivo will try to clinch its sixth straight game at the Riazor without suffering a defeat, the last time this situation occurred was on the season 2004/2005, exactly during the last campaign of Irureta at Depor. However, this mark still far from the historic record at the club: 27 straight games at home without losing.

The reaction of Deportivo during the second round in la liga is a consequence of the good form lived by Lotina's team at the Riazor, stadium in which Depor has clinched thirteen of the last fifteen points in dispute: 3-1 Vs. Valladolid, 1-1 Vs. Getafe, 2-0 Vs. Espanyol, 2-1 Vs. Sevilla and 1-0 Vs. Real Madrid. A dramatic change since the Galicians were only able to add four points in the previous eight encounters played at home.

If Deportivo is able to add at least one point during Sunday's game against Real Murcia, Depor will reach its sixth straight match at the Riazor without suffering a defeat, an unseen thing during the two years with Caparrs, the last time this situation occurred was on the season 2004/2005, campaign that meant the goodbye of Irureta from La Corua:

Despite the good moment lived at the Riazor, the current numbers are very distant from the historic record at the club: 27 straight games at home without suffering a defeat. This particular period was one of the most glorious moments lived by Depor in its history, the club clinched a title in la liga and a surprising mark of twenty three wins and four draws achieved between the seasons 1999/2000 and 2000/2001:

This unbeaten condition almost lasted one and a half year, from January 22nd, 2000 until March 27th, 2001. Day in which Deportivo lost at home against Valladolid with goals scored by Kaviedes and Fernando Sales (1-2).
