IS COLOCCINI STAYING OR GOING?

28 Mar 2008
There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Fabricio Coloccini. Some reports affirms the Argentinean central defender is one of the main candidates to reinforce Barcelona for the next season, but his agent -Marcelo Lombilla- is saying that Deportivo wants to extend the contract with the player. Meanwhile, the first rumours about reinforcements for Depor have appeared in the media.

Fabricio Coloccini has been linked with a move to Barcelona FC within the last two weeks, the papers in Catalonia have been speculating about the interest of Barca in the Argentinean player, it was informed that both clubs -Depor and Barcelona- already started the negotiations. Coloccini even said to reporters that he was proud of this interest.

However, the agent of the ex-Milan defender, Marcelo Lombilla, talked with newspaper La Voz de Galicia and assured that nothing is for granted "If there was something with (Real) Madrid or Barcelona, I wouldn't be right now in Argentina, and right now I am in Argentina. And you should take in mind that I have Gago at Real Madrid."

In fact, Lombilla even appointed that Deportivo is interested in extending Coloccini's contract, deal that ends in the year 2010 "I was at A Corua in order to watch the game with Real Madrid, and later I had a meeting with Deportivo's officials. There's a project starting with this young team, with promising players, and Fabricio is a key piece. The player is happy in A Corua, his family too. He always tells me that he wants to stay during a lot of years, therefore I think we have a lot of possibilities of extending the contract, because the club wants to keep him."

Despite the situation, Lombilla doesn't discard a possible exit during the summer "Fabricio is making one of his best seasons as a professional, he is 26, he possess a EU-passport and is accessible in a economical way, in the sense that his price isn't of 20 million. It's clear we'll have offers. What Coloccini has told me is that he doesn't want to be transferred from this club, he doesn't want a situation like the one of the past summer with Zaragoza. The only option to see him out of the squad is a big offer in a economical and sporting sense."

THE FIRST TWO NAMES LINKED WITH DEPOR
Daro Cvitanich (23) and Andreas Ivanschitz (24) are the first two players linked with Deporitvo for the season 2008/2009. Cvitanich is an Argentinean-Croatian offensive midfielder that performs at Banfield, he has scored five goals in six matches during the Torneo Clausura 2008 in Argentina. Espanyol has been also linked with him and supposedly the Catalans already offered 3.5 million in order to complete the transfer.

Meanwhile, Ivanschitz is an Austrian midfielder that's currently playing in Greece with Panathinaikos, a couple weeks ago he was linked with Deportivo by La Voz de Galicia, apparently Depor is able to offer 1.5 million for him. Ivanschitz has played 31 matches with the national team of Austria and has scored 5 goals, including one in Wednesday's defeat against Holland (3-4). He's considered as a key piece in the team that will co-host the EURO 2008.
