Matchday 32 has meant the moment in which Deportivo has secured the permanence, at least in theory. A surprising fact taking in mind how things were at the end of the first round. And its that the Galicians are the best team in the second round, period of time in which they have added 26 of 39 possible points.

In Primera Divisi??n, nobody has suffered a relegation to Segunda after reaching the mark of 43 points, that's why it's considered as the magic number in order to clinch the permanence. Deportivo reached this mark on Sunday after the 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, however Depor isn't saved yet in a mathematical sense, but with only 18 points still in dispute, the nine-points gap with the 18th position seems as a definitive difference.

After analysing the results in matchday 32, it's possible to say that Zaragoza was the big loser of the day. Los Ma?±os were needing a win at Getafe in order to reduce the difference with Recreativo de Huelva, but they didn't take advantage of the problems at Laudrup's team, the Madrilenians were coming after a painful elimination in UEFA cup, besides they were at the doors of the final in copa del rey, at the end the match ended with a scoreless draw that it isn't good for any side.

Zaragoza still 18th in the table and it's now the worst team in Primera within the last five matchdays (only two points added). Other team struggling is Valencia, Koeman's team suffered its ninth defeat at home during the present season -a record at the club- now the Valencians have only added three points during the last five liga encounters and they are only five points over the drop zone. Meanwhile, Valladolid made a new step forward after the draw with Atl?©tico Madrid, while Osasuna is almost saved after the win over Espanyol.

The current situation in la liga:

With the permanence already secured, Deportivo must now focus its attention in the Intertoto spot (7th place). Theoretically, Almer?a is the one occupying the space, but the Andalucians aren't inscribed for the next Intertoto, meaning that the rival to beat is Espanyol at the 8th spot. The Catalans are fulfilling a terrible second round as they have only added 9 points in 13 matches, while Depor is making one of its best second rounds as the Galicians have added 26 points in the same number of games.

The table in the second round:

Matchday 33 presents a good opportunity for Deportivo in order to reach once and for all the Intertoto spot, Espanyol visits Barcelona while Depor does the same with Osasuna, a new win for the Galicians combined with a defeat or a draw of Valverde's team will put Depor inside the European positions, an unthinkable think at the start of the second round, moment in which Depor was in the drop zone. Talking about relegation, the key game of the matchday will be the confrontation between Zaragoza and Recreativo. It's a final for Los Ma?±os, a victory for them will be a step forward and a defeat will probably mean the first nail in their coffin.
