Transfer news

01 Sep 2008
Diego Colotto and Xisco were the main novelties during the last day of the market. The Argentinean central defender was the last official signing of the Spanish summer window, while Xisco was sold in the last second to Newcastle United. Both operations were the last ones accepted in Spain and England. Another novelty was the exit of Jairo to Lorca. Meanwhile Taborda, Bodipo, Manu, Aouate and Munua are staying at Depor.

The main news at Deportivo is that Diego Colotto (27) has finally signed for the Galician squad. The information was confirmed first by Radio Galega as the president of Atlas de Guadalajara, Fernando Acosta, assured during Monday’s night that he was accepting the proposition of Deportivo and that the player was signing at that moment his contract with the Galician side. This announcement was made one hour before the deadline.

Later an official of la liga (LFP) announced after the market was closed that the fax with the transfer of Diego Colotto was the last one accepted by the Spanish authorities. At 1AM of this Tuesday, Lendoiro gave a press conference and confirmed the issue, he also revealed the amount of the transfer: €2.5 million.

More uncertain was the move of Xisco to Newcastle United. The market in England was closing its doors one hour later and like it happened with the move of Colotto, the transfer of the Majorcan striker was confirmed until the last second. The official website of Newcastle announced the deal ten minutes after the deadline, the details of the contract weren’t informed, just that Xisco will sign a five-year deal and that he will wear the number 19. Like it happened with Colotto in Spain, the transfer of Xisco was the last one accepted by the authorities in England.

In the press conference Lendoiro confirmed the transfer of Xisco, but he didn’t want to give details about the amount of the operation, he argued ?the Magpies’ asked him to keep the amount of the operation in secret. It is rumoured Depor will receive between €7 and €10 million for this move

Meanwhile the only completed exit of a player discarded by Lotina was the one of Jairo, the Asturian playmaker was loaned to Lorca, club that’s the current leader in the group one in Segunda Divisi??n B. The deal is for one year. About Sebasti??n Taborda, Lendoiro informed in the press conference that he already has a EU-passport and that he will stay at Depor.

The most worrying thing for Lotina is occurring with the keepers, because neither Gustavo Mun??a, nor Dudu Aouate nor Manu were released, meaning that Depor has now five keepers in its squad. Also Rodolfo Bodipo is staying.
