Finally, after seven meetings between Lendoiro and Lotina’s agent, the extension of contract for the Basque coach was finally signed on Thursday’s morning. The contract is for one year and also includes and improvement on his assistant’s wages.

The agent of Depor’s coach, I?±aki Ib???±ez, has had a tough schedule in recent months, he has had at least seven meetings with Depor’s president, Augusto C?©sar Lendoiro, in order to negotiate the renewal of Miguel Angel Lotina, but it was until Thursday’s morning that he was able to close the deal.

Ib???±ez arrived to La Coru?±a on Thursday and it had a first meeting with Lendoiro –the sixth reunion since both sides starting to negotiate the continuity of the coach- it was reported there was some advance, but not enough to sign the extension. Then both men attended to the Riazor and then to a later reunion in which the contract was finally signed (the meeting lasted until Thursday’s morning -2:30AM)

According to the Galician media, the negotiation lasted so much because Lotina and his agent were asking for an increase in his wages and the ones of his assistants, and the club considered the petition was too high. Then, in a later meeting, the club presented a proposition that was close to those amounts, but that was for two years and not for one.

Then both sides have new meetings in which new details were negotiated, in the end both sides agreed to sign an extension of contract for only one year, the wages of Depor’s coaching staff were also raised, but it didn’t reach the amounts asked by the coach at the beginning, though it seems the contract includes some incentives that makes the deal more attractive.

On Thursday, and after the club officially announced the deal, Lotina talked at Abegondo’s press room and confessed that he wouldn’t mind to repeat the seven years that Javier Irureta spent as Deportivo’s coach, I don’t discard to spend so many years as Irureta, but neither is my goal. As long as we are fine and people are happy with my work, I'm enchanted and will be here the years it takes, but I don’t have a goal because football is something that goes day by day.

The Basque trainer also said that for the moment the club hasn’t defined anything ahead of the squad that will dispute the upcoming season, but he said that the renewals of the players ending contract are still in his agenda, Things will be made little by little. Right now we have taken the first steps and we will start to secure the things.
