Lendoiro and the agent of Manuel Pablo, Antonio Morales, reached an agreement on Sunday’s night, and the Canarian defender will sign a new contract lasting for two more seasons plus the option to extend for an additional year.

Finally and after the renewal of coach Miguel Angel Lotina, president Augusto C?sar Lendoiro has completed the first renewal of a player ending contract in June. It is the case of Manuel Pablo, side defender that will sign a new contract after his agent, Antonio Morales, maintained a new meeting with the president during Sunday’s night.

Depor’s president said on the past week that he was ready accelerate the negotiations with the players ending contract, and until this point, he is fulfilling his words. The agreement with the side defender is for two more seasons with the option to extend it for an additional year, something that will depend on the number of matches played by the Canarian defender on the second campaign. More in concrete, if Manuel Pablo disputes at least 25 official games during the season 2010/2011, he will automatically obtain a third year of contract.

Manuel Pablo arrived to La Coru?a for the season 1998/1999, the first one of Javier Irureta at Deportivo. He came from Las Palmas as part of a deal that also brought ?Turu’ Flores to the Galician club. He has been a normal starter at the right-back position and was close to go to Real Madrid after Los Blancos presented an incredible offer that Lendoiro refused.

One moth after the offer was rejected (Sept 10th 2001), the player suffered a serious injury during a liga game against Celta. He struggled to return, but he finally did it and has been a normal starter at Depor within the last seasons. This is the first renewal completed by Lendoiro since Valer??n’s signed an extension during the season 2004/2005. If he’s able to complete the three-year contract at Depor, then Manuel Pablo will reach the mark of fourteen seasons at the Galician club.

On Monday and after the squad returned from the trip to Huelva, Manuel Pablo confirmed to reporters the deal and explained how the agreement was reached "It was clear that what I wanted is to stay at Deportivo. In the end, both sides have given something and we reached an agreement. I was always calmed and each Sunday I try to demonstrate this. At least I already know I will still here and I’m content. I was calmed, because I knew that if it wouldn’t be here, it would have been somewhere else. There was interest from other clubs, but nothing serious.  In a economic sense, the deal is not matching what I was asking for, that’s why we agreed the option of a third year, which is also good."

Lotina also showed his satisfaction with the news, ?We are very content with the renewal of Manuel Pablo, because he is a very important player and also because it has been our first renewal, let’s hope this will cause more.? Now Lendoiro targets the renewals of Verd?? and Sergio, his next two names on the list.
