DEPORTIVO IN SEPTEMBER

04 Sep 2009
Three matches at the Riazor and only one visit, that’s the schedule of Depor in the month. Besides, Lotina’s team is facing three rivals that are targeting the permanence, while the other is Villarreal, club that again is fighting for bigger things.

Deportivo will play two straight games at home at the beginning of September, later it will face one of the promoted teams from Segunda during the first midweek matchday of the season, encounter that also represents the lonely away game of the month. And the last game of September is against one of the candidates for the Champions League places, again to be played at the Riazor.

The first rival of the month is Malaga FC, club that again completed several moves during the summer market (16 exits, 14 arrivals) and that also surprised everybody with a stunning 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the opening day of la liga. For the occasion Malaga is recovering central defender Milan Stepanov (hamstring) and left-back Patrick Mtiliga (bounded leg), while Apoño and Helder might be fit to play after surpassing the stress fractures that kept them sidelined in recent months.  To mention that Malaga has never won in La Coruña after eight visits and that has suffered five straight defeats at the Riazor.

One week later RCD Espanyol will be visiting the Riazor; the Catalans are still trying to surpass the shocking death of captain Daniel Jarque and also the 0-1 setback against Athletic Bilbao in matchday 01 of la liga. The match will mean the first visit of Joan Verdú to La Coruña after his exit during the summer.
