DEPORTIVO IN NOVEMBER

04 Nov 2009
Four teams in trouble are waiting for Depor during the month of November; Lotina and his players will try to take advantage of their situation in order to advance in Copa Del Rey and to keep the team at the top of la liga.

After the 1-1 draw against Sporting Gijón, the month of November continues with the visit to Getafe FC; the Madrilenian club is living at the middle of the liga table and has been criticised due to its ‘softness’ in defence, actually Getafe is the seventh worst defence at Primera División with fourteen goals allowed after nine matchdays.

However, the Madrilenians are very strong playing at home as nine of their twelve points were added at the Alfonso Pérez coliseum; they also accumulate four straight victories playing over there, including the Copa Clash against RCD Espanyol (2-0).

Three days later Deportivo returns to Copa Del Rey in order to play the returning leg against Real Murcia (Riazor, Tuesday 20h00 CET). The Murcians are still the only side between Primera and Segunda División that hasn’t achieved yet a victory, and for that reason coach José Miguel Campos was fired on Sunday. His substitute is José González López. Murcia is penultimate at Segunda and is three points above the safety.

Then there’s a pause in la liga due to the playoffs in the road to South Africa 2010, and the action returns as Depor hosts Atletico Madrid at the Riazor. The Madrilenians are another rival living a tough moment: already eliminated in Champions League and living inside the relegation zone in liga, they have only won two games after playing thirteen times between liga, Copa and Champions League. Like Murcia they also changed the coach recently as Quique Sanchez Flores replaced Abel Resino. The game will probably be played on Saturday, because Atletico has to play in Champions on the following Tuesday.

And the month ends with a visit to El Sardinero in order to face another rival in deep troubles: Racing Santander . The Cantabrians are just separated from the relegation zone due to the goal difference and they don’t achieve a triumph since September 19 (2-1 at Malaga FC).
