January should be remembered as the busiest month of the season, with nine official games played in a matter of thirty-one days. The squad suffered several injuries and could end eliminated from Copa, but is more than alive in liga.

The exhausting month of January is about to end; Deportivo will end it with nine official games played in thirty-one days, which will be the highest number of the season for a single month. The goals for the month were to stay alive in Copa Del Rey and to continue aspiring to the European positions in la liga, and Lotina’s team was able to only achieve half of the goals.

Because despite that the second leg in Copa against Sevilla FC still to be played, the 0-3 of the first game will be very difficult to overcome. At least the Galician team still alive in la liga and continues to be one the main aspirants to end the campaign among the first six places, right now Deportivo is just separated from the Champions League by the goal difference.

But what has raised all the alarms were the injury cases suffered during the month; Depor started the month with Angulo Juca, Riki, Antonio Tomás and Lassad at the injury room, and of this group it only recovered midfielders Juca and Antonio Tomás, while it suffered other three new cases: Sergio, Andrés Guardado and Filipe Luis, also remembering that Riki returned just to sustain a new injury that has sidelined him in recent games.

In this sense, it should be considered as a very expensive month, not only for the number of injury cases, but for their importance. Now Depor must play two more games in order to end the month and both are complicated: Wednesday’s Copa match against Sevilla FC (Sánchez Pizjuán, 22h00 CET) and Saturday’s liga clash against Real Madrid (Riazor, 22h00 CET).

The team rested on Sunday and Monday, and today it will be know how Lotina plans to face both games. Taking in mind that the 0-3 in Copa is very difficult to overcome, Depor’s coach could be planning to use several substitutes, including some Fabril’s members, for the second-leg, which means to reserve the normal starters that still healthy  for the liga clash against the Madrilenians.

For the moment Lotina is exactly sending that message, as eight Fabril’s players have been called to take part of Tuesday's training: Goalkeeper Marcos Valín; central defender David Rochela, right-back Diego Seoane, left-back Raúl García, midfielders Juan Domínguez and Dani (Fabril’s captain), right winger Chirri and playmaker/striker David Añón. This last one debuted with the first squad in the first-leg played against Sevilla at the Riazor.
