Lotina and all the players admitted that Real Madrid deserved to win the game; that was the general comment after the encounter. Meanwhile Guti admitted that a win at the Riazor was one of his goals for the season.

Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina was the first one that admitted the superiority of the rival, “They won fairly; we made a big effort in the first part, but never created problems to them. My team has converted Xabi Alonso and Guti into international players, because we don’t even gave tickles to the rival. In the second half we did more things, but we can not deny the victory of Madrid.”

The Basque coach was aware of the passive attitude of his players, especially in the play of the second goal, “We should have fouled Benzema at the beginning of the play, we committed errors in the first and second goal. Now we must think and not allow seeing the rivals playing so calmly. We left too many spaces and they were playing really comfortably.”

Finally, Lotina warned about the present of his team, “We aren’t living our best moment on the season. Enough is the job of the youngsters and we need to integrate them gradually. One of the characteristics of this team is that we stand up really quickly. Now is time to get back our strength and recover players like Guardado, Lassad, Sergio and Mista, who had to bring things to the team.”

Iván Pérez, who played a good game entering as a substitute, was also admitting the superiority of Real Madrid, “They came here in order to demonstrate that they can win on here, and today we started to see what this team can offer.”

Similar was the speech of Dani Aranzubia, who was the one that avoided a bigger defeat thanks to his saves, “Madrid was the superior side and they surprised us. After the penalty we tried to attack, but the third goal came so quickly.” Meanwhile, Juan Carlos Valerón was a starter in the game; El Flaco just said that “We don’t need to think too much of it, because they deserved to win.”

Riki seemed surprised with the ability of Guti in the play of the second goal, “It seemed like Guti had eyes at the back. Instead of facing the one-on-one play he assisted Benzema. It was a great goal and a good play. I think they deserved to win, because they were superior.”

The Madrilenian also talked about the penalty that he threw, “Yes, it was good, but it wasn’t useful to help the team, though it is helping me to gain confidence after the injury. The truth is that the sensations were positive and I felt well on the pitch.”

Juan Rodriguez was trying to analyse what happened during the game, “We weren’t ourselves during the first half, we were not feeling comfortable on the pitch, and in the second half we were more attacking minded, but could not do anything. Now we must forget what happened and think about the next game. "

The Andalusian did of everything on the game, he started on the right wing, later moved to the playmaking function and ended as a pivote, he commented that, “I’ve assumed it, I even played as a keeper on here and hope to not repeat it. I try to do the best I can to help the team, but in this case the result wasn’t favourable for us and we can’t keep lamenting, as I said before, we need to think of the next game.”

President Augusto César Lendoiro was also feeling sorry for the final result, “It was going to happen someday; we didn’t deserve to win.” He was asked about the situation of the arrival of a new left back, but just answered that “We won’t have problems with Florentino in the subject of (Sergio) Canales.”

At Real Madrid, coach Mauricio Pellegrini was satisfied with the performance of his team, “It was great because this is a difficult stadium for Real Madrid. We played great in the first part and they just attacked us after the penalty; we sought the game since the beginning.”

José María Gutierrez 'Guti' was the ‘hero’ for the Madrilenian media; he commented that, “We were hoping to win on there. It was about time. We spent a lot of years losing or drawing at the Riazor. I believe it was one of the goals for Raúl, Iker (Casillas) and me.”
