REACTIONS TO THE DRAW IN SEVILLE

15 Mar 2010
Everybody was happy with the performance of the team and with the point added, which not only keeps the Europa League dream alive, but also the dream of the Champions League. Meanwhile, Aranzubia said that he hit the ball with the shoulder.

Miguel Ángel Lotina was quite happy with the performance of his team, “It’s something to be satisfied, for the rival we faced and for the way in which it was achieved. It was a fair result. The dominion was for Sevilla, but when we had the ball the team played with criterion. In a general sense I think the team was focused, because Sevilla arrived with a lot of people to our area. Any occasion could have ended in goal, but they never had a clear chance, and for our side we completed a good game.”

“A lot of points still in dispute and the way to add them is also very important, and we are content for the game we made on here. I already sign to end the season tied with Sevilla, and if we have a better goal-average then it will be a very good sign for us.” The Basque man added.

About the presence of Valerón at the starting eleven, Lotina said that, “Lassad was going to start, but he woke up without feeling good sensations on his feet, but there were players that offered more football on this game. Defensively we are a united team, that’s why we are there, trying to control and pass the ball, not only against Sevilla, though there are teams in la liga that are doing a better job.”

Defender Diego Colotto was saying that it was a fair result, “It was a very equal match, with scoring opportunities for both sides. It is a tough stadium; we made a great game and fulfilled the expectations. We played at the same height.”

Antonio Tomás, who will miss the next game against Valladolid, explained that he left the pitch due to a hamstring problem, “The truth is that it is a problem bugging me for a while. It’s a minimal thing, but it blocked my game, let’s see what happens. I hope is a little problem.”

Catalan Albert Lopo was emphasising the result for the level of the rival, “Sevilla is a great team that belongs to the Champions League. It was a hard worked point. The good thing is that we are recovering people and our team will return to be the same one of always.”

Youngster Juan Domínguez impressed with his game against one of the best teams in la liga, he was saying that this is just part of his growing process, “It’s an evolution that we must follow. I hope to have more minutes during the next games and to keep evolving in order to have more confidence in myself.”

Adrián broke his drought with the goals and allowed to add an important point against a direct rival, the Asturian was satisfied for it, “I was wishing to score, because a long time has passed since the last one. From here to the end of the season I hope to score more. But I am more content for the point, which was achieved making a great sacrifice against a tough rival.”

Meanwhile, Dani Aranzubia was trying to explain the polemic play that occurred at the end of the first half, “I hided the hand behind the back and hit the ball with the shoulder; the truth is that I was worried for some seconds, because the referee could have whistled thinking that I hit the ball with the hand, but fortunately it wasn’t like that.”

President Augusto César Lendoiro was at the Sánchez Pizjuán watching the game, he was content with the final score, “We are all fighting, it is a tasty point and a deserved one, because we did the merits to deserve the draw, we could have won too, but also lose. The truth is that it was well deserved, we are tied at the top positions and having the right to continue dreaming.”

At Sevilla, coach Manolo Jiménez was saying that despite the result he was content with the performance of his team, “I have nothing to reclaim to my team, except for the ending of the plays, because we could have had more clarity at the moment of shooting on target though we hit the post twice. But we faced a good team that accumulates a lot of people behind the ball and it is difficult to penetrate their defence. Their goal damaged us, because it came too soon and because it reinforced a good Deportivo.”
