Depor’s coach was blaming himself for the problem of Guardado, while he announced that Ze Castro will perform as a midfielder. At Valladolid, Onesimo is optimistic about the upcoming liga clashes of his team.

Onésimo Sánchez González is a former striker of Valladolid that begun his career as a coach just two years ago. He played in seven different clubs including FC Barcelona (1989-90) and Sevilla FC (1996/97) and also played one game with Spain U-21 squad. He retired in 2002 and six years later started his career as a coach with SD Huesca.

Then he went to Real Valladolid B and was promoted to the first squad on February 1st as José Luis Mendilibar was fired due to the poor results. He already coached the Violet team in five Primera games and still searching for his first victory in the division; therefore Onesimo is together with Xérez Néstor Gorosito the current coaches with less experience in la liga. This is his first confrontation against Miguel Angel Lotina, who by the way is the coach with more matches at the elite of the Spanish football (355 matches).

Depor’s coach gave a press conference on Friday; he was blaming himself for the muscular problems of Guardado, “I am angry with myself. We can’t blame the doctors for everything, this time the guilty one is me. He (Guardado) told me on Wednesday that was tired, and I responded that he should work at 60%. If I would have sidelined him on Wednesday then we would not be talking of this right now. I should have reacted in other way.”

“Now, Guardado is a major doubt for the game. He started to feel some problems today, we took him off from the trainings as a precaution measure and will take a final decision during tomorrow. We must listen to him and the doctors. He wants to play, but if he plays tomorrow then there’s the risk of a relapse and a muscular injury could mean to be out for a month. And if he doesn’t plays in this game then the logical thing is to have him ready for Tuesday (against Sporting).” He added.

The Basque also surprised everyone at the press room as he advanced that Zé Castro will perform as a midfielder playing between Juan Rodriguez and Juan Dominguez, “I do believe he can do a great match performing in that position.”, while he also announced that Lassad will be a starter, “We don’t pretend to see him playing for the whole game. We see that he is better and think he is ready to play from the start. We will see how many minutes he will play, though the logical thing is that we will take care of him.”

Later Lotina was talking of the meaning of this game for the aspirations of Deportivo, “Nobody can’t deny that we are playing with our hopes; we must go out with our shirt and the expectations of the fans and that’s why this is an important game for us. For me this is one of the most difficult games of the week due to the necessity of the rival, they come for everything. The support from the fans is fundamental. Surely we will have it and we are going out for the game.”

Finally, the Meñaka-born trainer talked of the declarations made by Lopo in which the defender complaining of Valladolid’s goal celebrations during the 0-4 of the first round, “In football you need to know how to win and how to lose. Sincerely, I didn’t remember this incident, because I was busier with the four goals that we allowed rather than to watch their celebrations. When  I lose it hurts me and it’s the same for me how the rival celebrates the goals.”•
Valladolid’s coach gave a press conference on Thursday; he was saying that next week is very important for them as they will have the opportunity to pick several points in the coming three matches, “We are willing to compete on Saturday in La Coruña. Football is giving us the option to aspire in ten days to add nine points in a matter of a week, and it’s clear that things will be more feasible if we are able to add the major part of them.”

“Everything is important and we must seek for the opportunity to add more points; if we win a match then we will see things closer. We want to take advantage of these two months in order to improve our situation in the table. “ He added.

Later Onésimo was talking of the attitude that his team must show at the Riazor, “If we play with the same intensity saw against Real Madrid, then we will win a lot of things. What we must change is the game in set-pieces. We have worked that, but the truth is that the rivals are damaging us. We must be conscious in order to improve this important aspect of the game. It’s a matter of compromise and understanding in order to defend these kinds of plays.”

About Deportivo, the Valladolid-born coach said that “It’s a team that knows what it’s doing, it isn’t a team that has the ball possession, it defends well and is very dangerous. Sometimes it seems you are managing the game, because you are closer to their goal, but it’s the way in which they play. It is a good team and is having good results at their stadium.”

“But we know how to handle this game and I think we are at a high level; we will have our opportunities to take the match through the set-pieces.” He added.  Finally, Onésimo talked of the situation wit the injured players, “Sisi is doing some things, we already have people working, the subject of Borja is also there; things are improving and we hope to recover more people soon.”
