Deportivo has tied one of its most promising pearls: midfielder Juan Dominguez. He already had a contract lasting until the year 2013, but it wasn’t professional. Now the Galician player is getting a secure spot at the first team.

On Friday, 20-years-old midfielder Juan Manuel Dominguez Lamas gave an important step forward in his career after signing a professional contract with Deportivo. He arrived on the year 2004 to Cadetes and was promoted on the past campaign to Fabril; this was going to be the season of his confirmation at the B squad of Deportivo, but suddenly Lotina started to trust in him and has been a normal participant in the list for the first team matches.

On the Primera season the Pontedeume-born player already had thirteen appearances (744 minutes) and has been praised due to his skills to move the ball, even the coach has applauded his skills, “It’s worthy to pay the ticket just for the pleasure of seeing him controlling the ball.” Lotina recently said.

Dominguez already had a contract lasting until the year 2013, but it was “amateur”, which means a lower salary and the possibility to alternate between Deportivo B and Deportivo first team, the danger is that any side offering bigger wages could have signed the midfielder, which is a tempting choice for foreign clubs as the Primera teams rarely ‘steal’ youngsters to the other Primera clubs.

The previous contract of the youngster had an option that was converting the player into professional if he was playing fifteen official games with the first team, but president Augusto César Lendoiro didn’t want to wait and offered the deal before reaching that mark.

Now Juan Dominguez is reaching the status of professional, which means a salary increase and the possibility to have a secure place at the first team until the year 2013; the only problem is that the Galician playmaker/pivote can no longer perform for Fabril, which means that he will miss the promotion playoffs to Segunda B.

On Friday the midfielder talked to reporters and expressed his satisfaction for the signing, "For me this is a dream come true, because it gives you some confidence as it means I am officially part of the first team. What took me here was to be like I am, and I am not going to change. I will remain the same and will keep working, so things will continue to be fine. I will be there to help as much as it takes. As you are at the B squad you are always aiming to reach the first team. I did it and it’s something for which I'm very happy, because it's something I dreamed since my childhood.”
