REACTIONS TO THE DEFEAT AT MESTALLA

26 Apr 2010
Lotina said to be content with the performance of the team, this despite that Depor has spent nine straight games without a win, which is a record in the history of the club.

Despite that Depor accumulates now nine straight matches without a victory, coach Miguel Ángel Lotina was expressing his satisfaction with the game of his squad, “The game that we have made hasn’t been so bad. During the second part I liked the team at times. It was a pity the goal. The penalty came in a play without any danger, something that has favored them and that has decided the meeting. Overall I'm happy with the match, with the effort of the players, perhaps the negative thing has been the lack of depth. But we neither can ask more from the team."

Later he analysed the work done by Rochela, who replaced Piscu for the second part, “It was misfortune what happened with Adrian, but Rochela was good. Taking in mind that it was his debut he was well placed against very good strikers. In a general sense it was a good debut.”

The Basque manager also talked of Lassad, “This is the Lassad that we need and the one we wanted to enjoy on this season. Let’s hope that he won’t have problems in the coming week during the trainings, and that he will be fit for Saturday’s game against Zaragoza at the Riazor. He’s a player that can offer a lot of things up front, things we haven’t enjoyed throughout this season.”

David Rochela was the only player interviewed by reporters, he offered his first impression after debuting at Primera División, “Before going out the coach told me to be quiet. For me it was a pity to enter for a friend like Piscu, because he was doing a good game, but I just did what I saw him doing in the first part against these great players.”

At Valencia, coach Unai Emery was explaining why his team deserved the victory, “We wanted a larger result against a rival that was defensively okay. We found some holes, but didn’t find the needed continuity. We should have sentenced the game, but the important thing is that the result was fair.”

Similar was the speech of winger Joaquín Sánchez, “They fell back very well and although we look for the counterattacks, we were caught in offsides and lost many clear chances. It wasn’t a brilliant match, but we won and we are in the path that we should follow, so we hope to reap the rewards."

THE INJURY OF PISCU
At halftime Adrián Lopez ‘Piscu’ was rushed to the hospital after a play in which he jumped for the ball with David Villa, the player fell down to the ground and the doctors feared that the defender had suffered a fracture in the shoulder, they didn’t want to wait. At the hospital it was determined that he suffered a clavicle fracture (right shoulder) and that a surgery was needed.

In the end the player was taken to La Coruña and was operated at Hospital USP Santa Teresa de A Coruña by doctor Rafael Arriaza; the surgery was a success and now the player must rest. According to the report of the club the Galician defender will need eight weeks for a full recovery.
