New defeat for a Deportivo that now accumulates ten straight games without a victory, plus 449 minutes without scoring a goal. Depor played a bad first part, it improved for the second, but the side that scored the goal was Zaragoza.

Both coaches were presenting the predicted lineups; but Lotina had an emergency situation after Antonio Tomás got injured in the warming up (thigh problem), reason why Juca entered into the starting eleven and David Añon, who was watching the game at his home, was called at the last minute to cover the empty spot on the bench. The coach was allowing the debut as starter of David Rochela, while other Fabril’s member, Raúl Garcia, was playing at the left-back position. The defensive line was completed with Aranzubia at the goal, Manuel Pablo at the right side and Lopo joining Rochela at the centre.

Sergio and Juca were the two pivotes, Iván Pérez was covering the left wing, Juan Rodriguez the right and the duo in attack was composed by Riki and Lassad. At Zaragoza, coach Aurelio Gay chose Lafita to cover the right wing, while ex-Depor Arizmendi was out of the game. Adrián Colunga was the hope to score the goals.

Another horrible first part of Deportivo, but this time joined by a rival that, despite been fighting for the salvation and the promises of its coach, it did nothing to deserve the three points. The visitors had the ball possession in the first half, but it didn’t create clear scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, Depor was lost, but at the same time it had one good chance.

As it happened in recent games Depor was focusing its offensive efforts on Riki, but without creating anything within the first tem minutes, while Zaragoza was insisting on the right wing through Angel Lafita, who was constantly whistled by the public, but neither the Aragonians were creating problems despite they were having the ball possession.

Depor reached the opposite area for the first time until minute 13, it was after a lateral free-kick of Juca in which Lopo headed the ball out at the six-year box.  As it was expected, Zaragoza was putting more intensity in the game, after all they needed the win, but the true is that the visitors didn’t have any attempt to score, this despite Ander Herrera and Lafita were finding the spaces at midfield.

But Depor was having the best chances, at the 18th minute a cross of Raúl was headed by Juan Rodriguez and the ball passed near to the crossbar, but the referee whistled a foul, because the ex-Malaga pushed a rival when he jumped for the ball. At minute 32, Iván Pérez took a free-kick at the left side, the ball went to the box, but Lopo couldn’t release a proper shot.

The first shot on target on the game came until minute 36, it was a direct-free kick of Juca that Roberto controlled without problems. Then Depor seemed to be reacting for the last stretch of the game, at minute 39 Ivan Pérez found a high cross from the right, then he went to the left wing and surpassed Ponzio with a brilliant move to release a drilling cross that Juan Rodriguez found at the near post, the Andalusian connected the ball as he could, but it went out.

Zaragoza had the last chance of the first part, it was Lafita, who appeared at minute 41, it was after a high cross from Obradovic, the winger found the ball at the far post, but he lasted too much and the ball was cleared to corner-kick.

The final part was totally different, Lotina restructured the positions of his men on the pitch and now Lassad was performing closer to Riki, which gave the sense that Depor was now a more vertical team as it was reaching the opposite area with more frequency, though it wasn’t enough to break the bad streak.

And it’s that Lassad was disappeared in the first part, but in the second he started to move alongside Riki, which brought freshness to the attack, as it happened at minute 49: both players combined at the left wing and the play ended with the Madrilenian falling to the ground, but the referee whistled the offside of the Tunisian. It seemed Depor was having a real chance to win the game after a poor first part, but in the next play Zaragoza scored its goal.

The truth is that it was a polemic goal, Sergio lost the ball at midfield against Gabi, who won the ball as he touched it with the arm, but the referee didn’t whistle anything. The play continued with a long and drilling pass of Lafita that surprised everyone at Depor leaving Adrian Colunga with all the way up to face  Aranzubia, then the striker ran 10 meters and scored the goal with a drilling shot to the far post.

The goal opened the game and now Depor was more offensive, while Zaragoza found more spaces to release its counterattacks, though the truth is that Los Maños only had the clear chance of the goal. One of the three great chances of Deportivo in this half came at minute 60, Pablo Amo lost the ball at the back zone and Riki found the opportunity to face Roberto one-on-one, the Madrilenian striker crossed the keeper with a drilling shot, but the ball just went out close to the left post

After this chance Valerón entered for Lassad, the Canarian didn’t appear too often, but it was able to assist Riki for the second big chance of Depor in this half. It was a long volley that allowed the Madrilenian to face Ricardo, but his final shot was saved by the goalie and later nobody found the rebound (72’)

Then Adrian entered for Juca, change that gave more power to the game of Depor at the wings, especially on the right. This change, and the entry of Valerón, meant to switch to a 4-2-3-1 system, with Juan Rodriguez joining Sergio at midfield, Iván Perez continued on the left wing and now Adrian was at the right.

With the pass of the minutes the game started to lose intensity, Zaragoza was more worried in losing time, while Depor wasn’t finding the key to unlock the defensive wall put by Aurelio Gay –Zaragoza was playing with five defenders as Pulido entered for Lafita-

And ten minutes before the end David Añon entered for Riki, who seemed to have suffered a hamstring problem after trying to reach a drilling pass of Iván Pérez. He and Adrián were constantly switching places and the Fabril’s winger/striker was the one having the third clear attempt for Depor in the half. The play was made by Adrian at the right wing, he sent a cross to the far post and Añon was there to head the ball into the centre of the goal, but Ricardo was lucky enough to deflect the shot and later the ball hit the crossbar (81’).

Zaragoza was desperate to end the game and lost time in any possible way, while Depor only had two more attempts within the final minutes. First it was Adrian with a drilled cross from the right that Pablo Amo cleared (89’), and the last was for Añon, who tried to surprise Ricardo with a shot from close range, but the keeper stopped the ball (90+2’).

The miseries of Deportivo continue as the Galician team lost and now accumulates ten straight liga games without a win, which is now a record in the story of the club. Also, Depor accumulates a negative mark of 449 minutes without scoring a goal. But the true is that Depor played a good second half and deserved more against a rival that just capitalized its only chance.  Riki was the best player, while Rochela, Raul and Ivan Perez had a decent game, Lassad appeared until the second part and was whistled when he was replaced.

Now Depor will visit Pamplona in order to face Osasuna (Wednesday, 20h00 CET), one of the last chances to try to compensate the fans after this terrible second part in la liga.
