Maybe the biggest headache that Lotina will find during the pre-season stage is the overbooking at the centre of the defense; and it’s that he has six choices for four spots; definitely someone has to go out.

Coach Miguel Angel Lotina already knows that he will have a tough decision to make during the pre-season stage, which is to define the quartet of central defenders that he will keep for the season 2010/11. For the moment he has six alternatives at his squad: Albert Lopo, Diego Colotto, Ze Castro, Adrian Lopez ‘Piscu’, David Rochela and Aythami Artiles.

The first four were the picked choices for the past season, but the truth is that Ze Castro and Piscu barely played (704 minutes for the Portuguese in liga, 225 for the Galician); therefore there’s no sense in keeping a fifth or even a sixth central defender, this since Depor will only play two competitions (liga & Copa).

So, at least two men have to go out. And the two candidates are Rochela and Aythami. Lotina already told to Rochela that he counts with him, this after debuting with Depor at the last stage of the past liga season, this could mean a promotion to the first team or to be loaned out to a Primera or Segunda club.

Meanwhile Aythami is returning after spending two years loaned at Xérez CD; the defender talked to newspaper La Opinión A Coruña and affirmed that he wants to stay, “My duties are with Depor and I still have two years to prove it. I want to play at Depor, and as I already said, I wish to demonstrate that I can play on here.”

It seems that the only way in which both can stay is if somebody else leaves; Lopo is negotiating an extension of contract and Colotto seems solid in Galicia, so the only options seems to be Ze Castro and Piscu. It is already known that the Portuguese was unhappy with his role of substitute and it has been rumoured that he might end in his home country, while Piscu could be accepting a loan spell in order to play more minutes.
