THE LAST FRIENDLY ON THE PRE-SEASON

22 Aug 2010
Today, Deportivo plays its last friendly game on the pre-season 2010/11: SS against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico; itís the last test before the debut in liga against Real Zaragoza. Lotina has seven casualties for the game.

SS Lazio represents the last opportunity that coach Miguel Angel Lotina will have in order to test his plans ahead la liga 2010/2011 (Stadio Olimpico stadium, 21h00 CET). For the match the Basque manager will have seven casualties, starting with goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia; the ex-Athletic has missed the whole pre-season due to a shoulder injury, though the coaching staff expects that he will be ready for next weekīs debut in liga.

Other three players out are Raul Garcia (knee sprain), Lassad Nouioui and Jonathan Urreta (both muscular problems). The three of them didnít travel to Athens and Rome, and even itís feared that Urreta and Lassad wonít be ready for the Riazorís game against Zaragoza.

Manuel Pablo is also out as he suffered a thigh problem before the game with Olympiacos, while David Rochela is almost discarded due to a muscular problem. Finally, Juan Dominguez was the last name to join the list of casualties after sustaining a quadriceps problem on Friday. At least Michel is already recovered of his ankle problem and will be able to play the game. Also Juca can be part of the match as he already started to train after surpassing his thigh problem.

Despite the positive readings that Lotina always had in the previous matches, the truth is that the injuries and the bad results had been the common thing on this pre-season, and itís that Deportivo only conquered two victories after the eight matches played so far (1-0 at Cardiff City FC and 3-1 Vs. Pontevedra CF), though itís also true that the team has only lost one game (0-1 Vs. Young Boys). The rest of results were five draws (1-1 Vs. FC Twente, 3-3 Vs. Union Berlin, 0-0 Vs. Newcastle, 0-0 Vs. West Ham and 0-0 Vs. Olympiacos.)

Maybe the thing that has worried the most is the lack of goal that the Galician team continues to display, because Depor only scored eight goals in those eight matches. At the opposite side the team continues to show the same defensive secureness of last seasonís first round as Lotinaís men only leaked six goals and achieved four clean sheets in eight matches.
