REACTIONS TO THE DRAW IN COPA

23 Dec 2010
The coaches of both teams talked to reporters after the game; Lotina was content with the final result and insisted that the priority of Deportivo is in la liga.

Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina was giving his impressions on the match, "The final result is fair; we were feeling comfortable on the first part as we had the ball, but were lost in the second. They equalized the things and we could have won, but they could have also won the match. One of the issues that we practiced during the week was the strategic plays, and precisely their goal came in that way.”

Later the Basque man explained that, before the kick-off, he was asking to play the game, “I told the referee that we were wishing to play. The pitch was in conditions for it, though it was different within the final fifteen minutes, but evidently the referee was the one having the last word. We won’t throw away the Copa, but the important thing is on la liga, so nobody should be confused. Now we must go to Bilbao, then play against Córdoba and then we visit Barcelona, it is going to be a complicate week.”

Finally, Lotina was feeling sorry as the dates for matchday 17 were released until late on Tuesday, and because his team will be playing at 4PM, an unusual hour for football, “It’s hard to change the routine, but if we have to play then we need to adapt. What I ask is to have the dates with enough time to react. Let’s see if in the new year they could release the dates one month before, because it will be useful in order to have a better planning.”

The only player that spoke after the game was Diego Seoane, he was talking of the difficulties had on the pitch, “It was tough, especially in the second half, but at the beginning we thought it was going to be worse as it really was. We were fine in the first part and seized our opportunity. In the second the equalized the things in a set-piece and later it started to rain. In the end the 0-1 was good, but the 1-1 is still fine.”

At Córdoba, Lucas Alcaraz was explaining what he saw on the pitch, “The match, as things started with a penalty that I want to see again, was pretty good. The team recovered and we could have won. The team showed its class and I believe that it gave a positive impression. Now it won’t be easy to defeat Depor, because we are going to play at their stadium, but if Córdoba has something is to never surrender. The games need to be played.”

RIKI AND ZE CASTRO
Deportivo’s players are now enjoying of their Christmas vacations and will return to train until December 28; for that day it is expected to have news on Riki and Ze Castro; the duo was replaced during the game against Córdoba for injury reasons; the Madrilenian attacker sustained a muscular contracture and the Portuguese central defender was feeling pan in both knees; both are minor problems and shouldn’t prevent to see them available for the visit to Athletic Bilbao.
