Lotina was criticized during the press conference for delaying the changes in the game, and the coach defended his decisions assuring that the modifications aren’t the most important thing in this sport.

Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina was commenting the game of Depor at Mestalla, “The team was able to compete. We started pretty good in the first part and later they locked us at the back zone. In the second half it was the same as we completed fifteen or twenty minutes that were pretty good, and when the match was full of ups and downs then it came their goal. Later we had a couple of opportunities, but we never managed to take advantage of them. The truth is that anything could have happened, we could have won, we could have drawn, anything could have happened.”

Despite been content with the performance of his team, the Basque coach was also unhappy as he thinks that Deportivo deserved a better luck, “"I don’t believe the past game at Almeria has affected us in a physical sense. We made more merits than at San Mamés, but we lost. We never seized our opportunities and what prevailed was their punch; they have offensive midfielders and surprised us in a counterattack."

The coach was highly criticized for his late changes in the game, and he was defending his decisions, “Let’s see, the first change was Lassad. We all know the story of Lassad with the injuries, what did you want? To break him again? Then you have Valerón, and you later ask me why he doesn’t play. Second change, it was a desperate move, Juca, because he’s a player that in the middle of the disorder… besides Juan Dominguez was already tired; and finally Pablo Álvarez, just when everything was already decided. So I don’t think the changes have influenced in the game. If the changes are now the most important thing in the game then…”

Finally, Lotina was previewing the next games against Almeria and Zaragoza, “We are what we are. We have players passing through a good moment like Lassad and Adrian; they are in form, and you can notice it. And let’s hope that Riki and Michel will be fit soon. We still have to correct some things. I haven’t decided anything yet, let’s see how Lassad is. Adrian didn’t train yesterday, and neither Riki nor Guardado will be available. We want to pass the round in Copa, but if I would have four or five strikers then there won’t be a problem… but if Adrian and Lassad get injured, then who will play at Zaragoza?”

Defender Aythami Artiles was feeling sorry for the lack of punch of his team, “We had some opportunities to score, but they are a great team and their effectiveness was able to beat us. If the attempt of Lassad or the one of Manuel Pablo would have entered then things would have been different, but football is like this.”

“A point on here would have been very important, but they just defeated us thanks to their better aim and their powerful attackers. Now, we can only forget of this result and start thinking of the match in Copa Del Rey against Almeria.” The Canarian player added.

Meanwhile, Lassad Nouioui was feeling sorry for the big opportunity that he wasted in the second half, “I don’t know what’s going on with the keepers, because they are stopping my efforts. But it’s true that I didn’t strike the ball with the needed strength and it was a good save by the keeper.” He said on Monday at Abegondo.

President Augusto César Lendoiro was analyzing the match, “I believe we have made a very good second half; we had chances to score, but the keeper of Valencia was fine. For some reason the rival still alive at the Champions League and living inside the European zone. We knew that it was going to be difficult, but according to what we saw, I believe that we deserved more.”

Later he gave his opinion on the first round made by Depor, “The first round was acceptable after a poor start. I believe we have completed an acceptable first round.” But what everybody was expecting were his comments related to new signings, because it was speculated that the club was close to sign a new striker and even a new left-back defender, but Depor’s boss just answered that, “We are going to wait… we are going to wait… as soon as we have something we will announce it.”

At Valencia, Unai Emery was saying that it was a tough match for his team, “That was a hard game, before a solid and well worked rival. But we had prudence, consistency and insistency, so we carried away with the match. We had the ball possession, but sometimes that fact doesn’t give you the control over the match. Anyway, the victory allows us to see things clearer.”

“Without forgetting our ambitions and demands, there is a roof, which is marked by Real Madrid and Barcelona. Since that point we are competing with Villarreal and Espanyol, sides that are fulfilling a great season. We have our place and from there we are looking up. And Mestalla is the key for it. We need to cheer up the public, so they could be with us.” The Basque man added.

Pablo Hernández, who scored the second goal for Valencia, was also saying that it was a complicate game for them, “Deportivo is a serious team, especially in defence. They close all the gaps and it is difficult to attack them. But with a little more of luck we could have scored in the first half. The fact that I scored doesn’t secure me a spot at the starting team. I just need to keep working. I will work hard in order to take part of the next game, if not for the following one.”
