Deportivo returns to the Riazor after suffering two straight defeats playing away from home and it is now facing a resurrected Sevilla FC. The main novelties are the possible returns of Riki and Michel, while Manuel Pablo is doubtful.

The relegation zone is only four points below Deportivo; therefore the Galicians can’t lose more points at home if they want to avoid further problems. So far Depor has added 21 points in la liga, and need other 21 in order to clinch the permanence, and the easiest way to do it is through the 30 points that still to be disputed at the Riazor.

However, the rivals that still have to pay a visit to La Coruña are complicate ones, and it’s that of the ten teams that still have to play at the Riazor seven are currently fighting for a European place: Sevilla FC, Villarreal, Real Madrid, RCD Mallorca, Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Valencia FC. And the first team in the schedule is Sevilla FC (Saturday, 22h00 CET).

The main novelties for the game are Riki and Michel, the Madrilenian striker is returning after been out for a month due to a new muscular problem, while the Valencian playmaker is just coming back  after a knee surgery. It is clear that both men won’t be starters, but Lotina already said that they could play some minutes in the second half. It is exactly what the coach needed as the team has spent 308 minutes without scoring a goal in liga

Another player that’s now fit to play is Claudio Morel, the Paraguayan left-back picked a quadriceps injury during the first Copa clash against Córdoba CF and he received the medical okay on Tuesday. However, Manuel Pablo, who has played at the left-back position within the last two liga matches, is doubtful after suffering a knock in the ankle during the last meeting at Real Zaragoza.

The scans determined that it is only a contusion, but the Canarian defender will train apart during the week and his presence in the game against Sevilla will be doubtful until Friday, day in which Lotina will release the list of picked players for the encounter.

The three players that are already discarded for the game are right winger Saul Fernández (knee), left-back defender Knut Rindarøy (Achilles) and left winger Andrés Guardado (muscular), in the case of the Mexican his return is expected for the visit to Getafe FC.

On Wednesday, Lotina ordered a training game between the first team and Fabril; it was a match of three halves in which the Basque coach tested three different lineups. The first half was of 25 minutes, while the other two lasted 20. The first team won the game with a 1-0 score, goal that was scored by French winger Yves Desmarets after collecting a cross of Urreta.  During the second half of the training match Lopo suffered a knock in the ankle, for this reason the Catalan didn’t end the game, but it is expected that he will be fit to play on Saturday.

Lotina tested three different alternatives in the training game, from a 4-2-3-1 squad to a 4-3-2-1 scheme, passing through a 5-2-2-1 system; the formations tested during the three halves were:
Squad 1: (4-2-3-1) Manu - Seoane, Zé Castro, Aythami, Morel - Juca, Juan Domínguez - Urreta, Míchel, Desmarets - Riki.
Squad 2: (5-2-2-1) Aranzubia - Laure, Lopo, Zé Castro, Colotto, Morel - Antonio Tomás, Juan Rodríguez – Míchel, Lassad - Adrián.
Squad 3: (4-3-2-1) Aranzubia - Laure, Colotto, Aythami, Desmarets - Rubén Pérez, Antonio Tomás, Juan Domínguez - Pablo Álvarez, Valerón - Adrián.

After the training game, Riki talked at the press room and said that he expects to see the team leaving the current negative straight of recent weeks, “Seeing the results it is normal to see people worried, because there are phases in which thing don’t work as you wish for, but I believe we still have time to correct the course. Now I am focused on the team and believe that all the players coming out from injuries are going to contribute in order to see the team beginning to emerge.”

At Sevilla FC, the main news is the reaction of the team after suffering five straight defeats within matchdays 12 & 16. And it’s that the Andalusians have won three of their last four matches in la liga plus eliminating Villarreal in Copa Del Rey, with striker Luis Fabiano scoring four goals within the last three liga games, including a hat-trick in the last meeting with UD Levante.

The true is that Sevilla has been only thinking of the Copa semifinal match against Real Madrid, and they will start to prepare the clash with Depor until this day. The only thing for sure is that striker Frédéric Kanouté will miss the clash at the Riazor as he picked the fifth yellow card of the season in the past game with UD Levante.
