Eight of the eleven spots at the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against Racing Santander are already decided, but Lotina hasn’t shown yet the formation that he is preparing for the clash.

Maybe coach Miguel Ángel Lotina hasn’t given too many clues of what he might be planning for the meeting against Racing Santander, but for the public eye eight of the eleven spots at the starting formation are already clear. On Thursday the coach only tested a few things during the training session that took place behind closed doors at the Riazor, and on Friday the team had the traditional massage session two days before a match.

But despite the lack of clues eight of the spots at the starting team seem very clear; four of them are at the defensive line, starting with Dani Aranzubia, who will be the keeper, while Diego Colotto and Alberto Lopo will continue to perform at the centre of the defense. Captain Manuel Pablo also has a secure place, but the question is in which side of the defensive sector.

The second appeal on Laure was already rejected by the CEDD (Spanish Committee of Sporting Discipline), meaning that the Madrilenian is unable to play against Racing Santander. Now the options for the reaming spot at defense are Claudio Morel and Diego Seoane. The Paraguayan would perform on the left, moving back Manuel Pablo on the right, while the option of Seoane means to play with the Fabril’s youngster on the right leaving Manuel Pablo on the left.

Meanwhile, things are pretty clear at midfield; Juan Rodriguez is suspended, so the two clear choices for the pivote spots are Rubén Pérez and Antonio Tomás. Finally, two of the attacking spots are already decided: Guardado and Xisco. The Mexican is the reference at the left wing, while the Majorcan has impressed Lotina and has been the starting striker within the last two liga games.

The other three spots at the team aren’t so clear, and for that reason neither the formation that the coach will use in the game. Taking in mind that Depor is playing at home and that a victory will mean to make a huge step toward the salvation it isn’t probable that the coach will opt for a lineup with five defenders or three pivotes, so the most presumable team is a 4-2-3-1, a 4-4-2 or even a 4-3-3.

Lotina’s three question marks are located in attack and those positions are disputed between nine men: Pablo Álvarez, Adrián, Lassad, Michel, Juan Dominguez, Valerón, Lassad and Sand. The final decision could be taken today at Abegondo or even in the same day of the match as it occurred against Malaga.

Maybe the only hint at this point is what Lotina told to Radio Galega on Thursday when he was responding an inquiry regarding the presence of Adrian on the wing and Lassad in the playmaking function for the latest liga games, “Lassad knows how to play between the lines, while Adrian is more velocity and strength. Lassad, after Juan Carlos [Valerón], is the best player performing between the lines. I think that he is feeling more comfortable on that position.”

These comments indicate that it should be normal to see Adrian playing on the right wing and Lassad on the playmaking function, just like the duo did in their latest appearances in the lineups, and it should point out that Lotina will use a 4-2-3-1 formation.
