The controversy with Caparr??s has eclipsed the important game with Alav?ęs; however, Deportivo needs the win if the Galicians want to reach the UEFA cup through the Intertoto. Once again several absences in the defensive zone are affecting the planing of the match. Alav?ęs also have important absences for this game.

Deportivo and Alav?ęs are fighting for different objectives, the Galicians are occupying the Intertoto spot, but Villarreal is only one point away, they need to repeat the result of the Valencian club in order to secure the position, a victory will be the best solution since Villarreal plays against Racing, a team that doesn't play for anything in this last matchday.

Alav?ęs is occupying the 18th spot, the last place that relegates to Segunda, the only salvation for the Basques is to achieve a win and to see Espanyol failing to do the same against Real Sociedad. The difference between both clubs is just two points and a draw in points gives the advantage to Alav?ęs, because they won the particular series with the Catalans.

As usual, there are a lot of comments appointing to the famous 'briefcase'. Some people says that Espanyol could pay a reward to Depor's players if they help to their salvation, other rumours are the opposite: Alav?ęs could pay in order to obtain a victory, but all these stories are just speculations.

The same Miguel Angel Lotina (Espanyol's coach) showed his confidence about the effort that Deportivo will make in this game: "They are playing for the Intertoto, a competition that this year will be a easy one for the Spanish clubs, because with just a few games you can gain access to the UEFA cup. Besides Depor is one of the strongest teams playing away from their stadium and I bet for a draw or a victory for their side."

In Deportivo the worries are different, everyone is thinking of the conflict between the club and coach Caparr??s, but the importance of this game couldn't be avoided. The main worries are in the defensive zone, Joan Capdevila is suspended for accumulation of yellow cards while Juanma is still out for injury reasons. The main doubt is H?ęctor who is suffering muscular problems. V?şctor and Arizmendi didn't end yesterday training, but it's just a precaution and it's expected to see them in tomorrow's game. Acu?▒a has already joined Paraguay in their preparations for the World Cup and will also miss the match.

Meanwhile, Alav?ęs has key absences affecting their plans. Goalkeeper Costanzo and midfielder Quique De Lucas are suspended, while striker Aloisi is injured. This three players have been important for the Basques and it's expected that Bonano, Jandro and Mena will cover their absences.

Despite his club living a complicated situation, Ed?? Alonso is optimistic about their chances to save the category: "We know that it's tough, but I have seen weirdest stuff during my career. At least we will trust in our chances until the end, we will try to beat the mathematics."
