REACTIONS AFTER THE VICTORY AT THE RIAZOR

01 Nov 2011
Despite the final result, Oltra and the players were concerned on the number of goal allowed by the team on this season; Valerón was admitting that Deportivo is feeling the pressure coming from the fans.

Coach José Luis Oltra was valorizing the meaning of this victory, “The result is a reward to the reaction and the proposal of the team; it’s also a reward for the players and the fans. It’s incredible how they support us and how they help us. The victory is dedicated to them, and it was important due to the moment and the situation in which we were involved.”

For the Valencian man, the victory was possible as the team reacted in the second half, “The team was brave and daring in the second part, because we beat the gripping of the first half, and it’s that things were pretty equal until the pause. We always try to win, and when we have the ball possession some things happen, and today we achieved the goal.”

But Depor’s coach was also analyzing the bad things made by Depor in the match, “The team went out for everything, but found out a goal of the rival in the first play, and it affected us, we were knotted, we felt the pressure and lacked fluidity; we didn’t have further problems, but neither were fine with the ball; the team was imprecise, and the only good thing is that we tied the game in an isolated play. We are too much penalized, I spoke to Dani [Aranzubia] about it; the rival are shacking us. You will always have errors, all the goals are preceded by errors, but in our case it’s always punctual things, great goals going into the top-corners. Within the last three games I only remember one great save made by Dani, it was made in Córdoba.”

Finally, Oltra was rejecting the comments of some people that fear a possible decrease in the performance of Guardado now that his name has been linked with Valencia, “I believe in people until they demonstrate otherwise, and since the first day Andrés, despite been thinking of a possible exit, has been highly involved with the team, and I can’t doubt of his performance, because he’s an intense guy and will always do his best effort.”

Juan Carlos Valerón was content with the result, but sad for the number of goals allowed by the team, “Each time the rivals have an attempt to score against us they end up scoring a goal, let’s see if we can change this bad streak. The true is that the team was a little nervous since the start and we didn’t play well.”

El Flaco was also admitting that the players are feeling the pressure coming from the fans, “Since the start we felt that pressure, and we are conscious that people are upset due to the bad results suffered away from home. We can’t say anything to them, we can only try to do our best and achieve the best possible results.”

Aythami Artiles was also feeling sorry for the number of goals that Deportivo is allowing on this season, “We have been talking at the changing room of the bad luck that we had. Each time the rival arrives to our area they end up scoring. I just want to emphasize the fact that we were able to achieve the comeback. We know people are concerned; they always support us and it’s normal.”

Another Canarian, left-back defender Ayoze Diaz, was commenting the play of the penalty, “It was a quick play; we lost the ball at midfield, they went out too fast and caught me by surprise; I just tried to unbalance the player without been noticed by the referee, but he watched me. But I’m happy with the second half made by the team, because the rival barely had scoring opportunities.”

Riki scored for the third time in a row during an official match; he commented that, “I am leaving content with the work done by the team, and in a personal sense with my performance, although we had to fight hard within the final minutes; I am satisfied with our performance in the second part. We achieved the three points at home and now we must travel to Murcia carrying this positive feeling.”

President Augusto César Lendoiro was sending a message of unity, this after the whistles at the signboards at the stadium before the kick-off, “I want to ask the whole Deportivismo to be united, it’s fundamental to have a union right now. In our previous promotion campaign nobody was giving a dime for us. Actually, people thought that Murcia was already promoted, but we won the last five games and entered there, while Murcia stayed at Segunda. This is very long.”

About the game, Depor’s boss said that, “We are suffering at the end of the games, and at the moment of truth we are always asking for the final whistle. The true is that Deportivo wasted too many scoring opportunities, while the rival seized its only two chances. But we won and it was an important match in order to not lose the track of the first places. The league is too long and the important thing was to win.”

At Girona, coach Raúl Agné was content with the performance of his players despite the relegation problems of his team, “We were great in the first part; we were focused in blocking Valerón; we were controlling Deportivo and they were unable to do anything, but we lost the ball once and they equalized the match with a shot from long-range.”

“The team fought hard in the second part, but later fell down against the best squad in the league, and besides we were playing in a very complicate field, especially after the previous defeat with Deportivo. We can only try to be ambitions now; the team will keep fighting; for now I still the coach of Girona and that’s the important thing.” He added.
