MATCHDAY 14: NO BIG CHANGES

23 Nov 2011
Real Valladolid was the real winner on the weekend as they clinched a victory that put the violet team inside the direct spots for the promotion to Primera División, while nothing changed at the bottom of the standings.

Leader Hércules CF returned into the path of the victory as it clinched an important 1-0 win at Balaídos before RC Celta, but the big winner of matchday 14 was Real Valladolid thanks to its 2-1 victory over Villarreal B, which combined with the 0-0 draw of UD Almeria at home against FC Cartagena allowed Los Vallisoletanos to reach the second place at the standings for the first time on the season.

It’s an important step forward as only the first two places achieve the direct promotion to Primera División, although the situation at the standings still tight, jut to emphasize the fact that the distance between the second and the eleventh place at the standings is just of six points, which means that the entire picture can change in one or two matchdays.

About Deportivo, the Galicians are once again falling from the promotion zone after a disappointing 2-3 loss at Elche CF, club that claimed the spot of Oltra’s team thanks to this victory, Córdoba CF also moved up thanks to its 3-1 victory over AD Alcorcón.
