JUAN RODR??GUEZ CLOSE, NEN?? NOT AND DEPORTIVO B PREPARING PROMOTION PLAY-OFFS

01 Jun 2006
Alaves’ president has rejected Depor’s 3,5 million Euro bid for Brazilian midfielder Nen?©. Juan Rodr?guez, on the other hand, is very close to sign for Deportivo. And last but not least, there’s still a lot at stake for Deportivo’s B team in their quest for returning to Segunda B.

DEPORTIVO’S OFFER FOR NEN?? NOT ACCEPTED
Deportivo has to dig deeper in its pockets to assure that Brazilian midfielder Nen?© wears Depor’s blue-and-white next season. A 3,5 million Euro bid from Deportivo was deemed to be insufficient by Deportivo Alaves’ president Dmitry Piterman. And it seems to be that Deportivo has to increase its offer considerably since Piterman already rejected a 4 million Euro bid by French side Girondins Bordeaux last week.

A fact in favour of Nen?© coming to Deportivo is that the player has expressed his wish to play First Division football in the Spanish league, thereby putting pressure on recently relegated Alaves to sell him this summer. However, Deportivo isn’t the only Spanish club interested in buying Nen?©. Recently, Atl?©tico Madrid was rumoured to be interested as well. Now it’s up to Deportivo’s management to decide if they want and are able to increase their offer for Nen?©.

JUAN RODR??GUEZ DEAL 90% COMPLETED, ALEXIS’ NEGOTIATIONS AT A DEAD POINT
â€?There are only a few details still to be discussed, but the deal is 90 % completed.â€? These are the words of Manuel Garc?a Quil??n, Juan Rodriguez’ agent. Garc?a Quil??n continued by saying that Juan Rodr?guez, who announced last week that he won’t continue playing for M??laga, doesn’t want to announce his new club until the end of his contract at M??laga. â€?We want to fulfil our contract with M??laga until the last seconds. Thereby, Juan won’t be represented at his new club until after June 30th.â€?

The agent also commented that the transfer talks between Deportivo and M??laga concerning central defender Alexis Ruano have reached a dead point since the two teams cannot agree on a transfer sum. On the other hand, the agreement between Deportivo and Alexis

DEPORTIVO B: PREPARING FOR THE PROMOTION PLAY-OFFS
While the first team is already on holidays, Deportivo B’s season has reached its decisive phase. It’s play-offs time and the next four games will decide if this season can be considered a full success. The goal is to achieve promotion to Segunda B (Spain’s third highest league) and the first step is to beat C.D. Lealtad (Asturias) in the semi-finals.

The first game will be played this Sunday at 18.00 at Villaviciosa – home of C.D. Lealtad – , a village with 5,000 inhabitants at the Cantabrian coast. The return leg will be played one week later at home in Abegondo.

Deportivo is high favourite to win the series with Lealtad, but has to do so without right back Rub?©n Gonz??lez who suffered an injury during Wednesday’s training session and will be definitely out for Sunday’s match. However, Iago will be available to play on Sunday after returning from Norway with Spain’s Under 21 national team. Other players like Iv??n Carril and Xisco who played for Deportivo in Primera Divisi??n this season will be eligible to play as well.
