A few days ago, AS interviewed Rub?©n de la Red. The youngster has been pointed to as one of Deportivo’s targets. The Madrilian midfielder admits that he would love to come to Depor, but he also said that his first option is to fight for a place at Real Madrid.

Q: What do you think about Depor’s interest?
A: For me it's one of the biggest clubs in Spain, I am very proud that they are interested in me. It would be a magnificent option, but I must admit that my biggest hope is to reach the first team at Real Madrid.

Q: Maybe you are more inspired by Depor since the name of Joaqu?n Caparr??s is associated with it.
A: Of course. He is a coach who has promoted a lot of youngsters at Sevilla and he is doing the same with Deportivo. We saw some players make their debuts in the first team this season. I don't know if he does this because he likes to do it, or because it’s the right level for the players, but the important thing is that he is doing it. That fact speaks well of him and it's important for young players.

Q: So, where will you play next season?
A: That's a question I can't answer. My hope is to join the first team at Real Madrid. That's what I want, but if the club doesn't count on me, I will have to search for another place. I consider Depor a big club and it would be a nice option. It's a team that has been in the top six during the last few years, and they have played in Europe almost every year. That’s an important fact.

Q: Your agent is Manuel Garc?a Quil??n, a person in whom Lendoiro trusts. Did you speak with him about any possible offers?
A: He has told me a few things, but until the end of the competition I want to concentrate my efforts on La Liga. I want to help (Real Madrid) Castilla. I know that some Primera clubs are following me, but my duty is with Real Madrid.

Q: The problems in Real Madrid are no help to figuring out your future.
A: We know that the club doesn't have a president and that's the way it is. I don't know what the candidates’ thoughts are, but we have some idea. I read the other day that if Camacho arrives, three players from the B squad will be promoted, and I am on that list. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Q: In A Coru?±a people say that you are a very offensive midfielder. Is this true?
A: I always score a lot of goals, although I play in the centre of the field. This year I have scored five goals, four of them from long-distance shots. I also like to act as a playmaker by combining with my team mates. I have also played a lot as a defensive midfielder, even as a playmaker.
