It was feared that Aranzubia could miss the clash with SD Huesca, but the keeper has surpassed his shoulder injury and is now available for Oltra.

Daniel Aranzubia was doubtful throughout this week after suffering a knock on his left shoulder during a collision with Bruno Gama on Tuesday’s training session. He left the training as a precaution measure, and on Wednesday he just completed part of the session, he was wearing a purple vest, which indicated to the other players that the goalie shouldn’t be touched.

The true is that it wasn’t a serious case, but doctors were cautious with Aranzubia as the keeper suffered an injury on that same shoulder during the pre-season of the past campaign, something that forced the ex-keeper of Athletic Bilbao to miss the first six liga matches.

On Thursday the keeper talked at the press room and said that he was surprised by all the attention received within the last days, “It was only a knock, I still have some pain in the bone, but it was something without importance. I think you, the journalists, were more scared than I was, but I can tell you that I’m fine. It’s true that the problem was in the same shoulder of the past year, but both are different cases. It hurts, but doesn’t avoid me to make any movement.”

He also talked of the current moment lived by Deportivo, “We must keep improving and must try to seize our current good form. Right now there are six teams fighting at the top and must continue on the same way. No matter the past problems we are second at the standings and that’s good. We could end the first round with 42 points, which would mean to end the season with 84 points, it’s something good taking in mind that nobody was content with our performance during the first round.”

Finally, Aranzubia analyzed the rival for Sunday, SD Huesca, “Perhaps they are at the bottom, but currently are living their best moment on the season. They live of the set-pieces, just as we saw at Alcorcón and Alcoyano, so we should be ready. We must try to play as we do at the Riazor. We must go there and be conscious of where we are.”
