Great weekend for Deportivo B; Ramallo’s team suffered a bit, but in the end it clinched a victory that, combined with other results, is putting the team directly into the promotion zone for the first time in 2012.

Central defender Diego Vieytes was a last-minute casualty as he suffered a relapse from his previous right knee injury. The other three casualties (long-term cases) are David Garcia (shoulder), Pedro Crespo and Luis Fernandez (both knee). In the end coach Tito Ramallo returned to the 4-2-3-1 figure after the experiment with five defenders of the past weekend.

Marc Martinez was at the goal, Adriá Gallego played at the right-back position, Ángel Martinez did it at the left, while the central defenders were Pablo Ínsua and Oriol Ricarte. Uxío and Richi were the two pivotes, Diego Vela attacked from the right wing, Victor Diaz was at the left, Juan Carlos was the playmaker in the formation and  Cubillas was the central attacker.

The rival was Pontevedra-based club CD Estradense, a mid-table team that was arriving motivated after two straight victories, and both were huge results achieved before Racing Club Ferrol (2-1) and RC Villalbés (1-0).Estradense is remembered at Abegondo as back on the season 1992/93 it suffered one of the biggest defeats playing before Depor B: 1-9. The main reference at the team coached by Manuel Antonio Ínsua
was a familiar face: ex-Depor Marcos Javier Yáñez ´Changui´, who is the top-scorer at the team with seven goals in favour before this meeting.

It was the third biggest victory of the season after the 4-0 at RC Villalbés and the 6-1 over Cultural Areas, but it doesn’t mean that it was an easy match for Fabril. And it’s that Ramallo’s team had big problems to open the can before an ordered rival; it was until the visitors fell down exhausted, within the final thirty minutes, that the win was certified.

Depor B had big problems to surpass its rival, the defensive wall of the visitors, mainly with Pepe Rico at midfield, was a real headache for the locals. Victor Diaz and Diego Vela on the wings, plus Iago Beceiro at the centre of the attack, were the main threats before Estradense.

Vela had the first chance of the game with a drilling shot that missed the target, then the chance was for Beceiro, who missed the goal with an attempt from the edge of the box. But the one that scored the first goal was Victor Diaz. Ángel started the play with a long pass from defense, the left winger collected the ball at midfield and ran 30 meters elegantly eluding three rivals to end beating visiting goalie Alberto Manuel González ‘Pajarillo’ with a crossed shot. It’s his fourth goal in liga.

The goal brought calmness to Fabril and the locals were having the ball possession, Vela even replied before the break, but his goal was disallowed for an offside. Estradense scared the public at Abegondo as Changui was close to score at the last minute of the first part, but he missed the target from close range.

In the second part Depor B went out in order to define the game as soon as possible; just one minute after the pause Victor missed a great chance from close range and before an empty goal, two minutes later the left winger released a perfect cross that Vela headed out. And then Vela had another great chance, this time after a cross of Beceiro, but his header hit the post.

Then the visitors made a substitution as Matias replaced an exhausted Pepe Rico, that modification was key as Estradense lost the mark at midfield and fell down within the last half an hour to end allowing three goals.

The second goal came after a foul over Beceiro at the edge of the area, Juan Carlos came  threw a perfect free-kick curving the ball into the right top-corner of Pajarillo. It’s the goal number 12 for the current Pichichi at the team. Then Ramallo made the first substitution as Alex Pérez replaced Victor, with the move Iago Beceiro was now performing on the left wing leaving Álex at the centre of the attack

Ramallo also made a change at midfield as Adrian Martinez replaced central defender Pablo Ínsua, the modification pulled Uxio to the centre of the defense while Adrian was joining Richi at midfield. The third goal arrived soon, Alex Pérez made a great play at the edge of the area to drill the ball into the path of Diego Vela, who just had to cross Pajarillo.

The fourth goal didn’t lass too much time, Juan Carlos assisted Angel Martinez, who entered into the area by the left side, then he tried to score chipping the ball over Pajarillo, but the keeper deflected the attempt, though the same Angel collected the loose ball to release a volley into the far post that was collected by Vela, who just had to push the ball in to score his brace.Diego Vela is now the second best scorer at the team with eight passing Cubillas (7).

Precisely Cubillas was the last substitution at Fabril as he replaced Iago Beceiro; Depor B was relaxed within the final five minutes, and it was then that Estradense had its best opportunities; first Fabril’s defenders couldn’t clear the ball during a lateral free-kick and in the end Changui scored with a crossed shot from close range, the visitors even had the chance to score another goal, but Marc Martinez made a great save before the attempt of defender Diego Castro ‘Fafú’.

Refreshing victory for a Deportivo B that faced difficulties in the first part to end achieving its third largest win of the season during the second half, the best part is that direct rivals Pontevedra CF and RC Villalbés lost their meetings, reason why Fabril is now fourth at the standings, which means to be at the promotion zone for the first time in 2012. On Sunday Depor B has to pay a visit to Racing Club Ferrol (A Malata, 17h00 CET). Racing is one of the big teams in the league, but that’s living a crisis as it has only won two of the last nine meetings.

Comments of Tito Ramallo: ”The team was fine and had several scoring chances, which was a pending issue in past games. Besides, the other results in the matchday were good for us. The boys needed a match like this after a tough start in 2012.”
