Oltra and the players admitted that Córdoba was the best side on the pitch and that Deportivo had a hard time trying to control the action on the pitch; Borja Fernandez confessed that his dream wasn’t to score a goal, but to play alongside Valerón.

Coach José Luis Oltra admitted that the rival was the best side in this match, “I liked Córdoba a lot; they were practicing a better football and we can’t deny it, not even for a minute. Cleary it has been one of the best, perhaps the best, team that has passed so far at the Riazor during this season.”

“They made a great game that didn’t allow us to feel comfortable during the first part; they put a lot of pressure and were having scoring chances. In the second part we were better and had solvency. I would highlight the three points, now we have 66, and are making a step towards the goal. It wasn’t our best game, all caused by the rival, but the fans are happy with the victory, and the team not only wanted the victory, but it was nonconformist.” He added.

Finally, Oltra highlighted the support of the fans at the Riazor, “I know that at some point it was to get desperate, but let’s see the positive things and at the end I saw people making the wave and chanting that we are from Primera. A team having this number of points… it can’t be only luck.”

Bruno Gama also admitted that the game was complicated for Deportivo, “It was a tough match, especially the first half, because we were better in the second. We knew it was going to be complicated as Córdoba practices a good football. We made a solid match in terms of aids and hard work. We should continue like this in order to achieve the goal of the promotion.”

Central defender Aythami Artiles scored a goal and also assisted for the first goal, but he didn’t give importance to it, “The assist and the goal were circumstantial, because anyone could have done it. What’s true is that Córdoba is the best team that has passed through the Riazor; we suffered in the first part as they were putting a lot of pressure all the time.”

Juan Dominguez saw his fifth yellow card on the season and will miss the clash at Girona, but at the same time he is conscious that he will be available for the Galician derby, “From that point of view is okay; the derby is a match that you always like to play and anyone is motivated to play it; for us the key has been to face every game as the most important one.”

Juan Carlos Valerón was another player admitting that Córdoba was the superior team on the pitch, “The true I that they passed over us; we suffered a lot in the first part and we were lucky to score the goals. Each weekend we are closer to Primera División, but a lot still ahead and we must continue working.”

Borja Fernandez scored his first goal at Depor, but for him the most important thing is that he’s playing alongside Valerón, as he wrote on his Twitter account, “Today I’ve accomplished a dream-reason why I came here, and surely you all are wrong thinking about what it was. My dream was to have played alongside Valerón!”

Later, on Monday, he explained his particular celebration, “I didn’t even know how to celebrate it; in the end it was dedicated to my daughter, who recently was operated from an eye problem. Also to my girlfriend, who was at the stadium behind the bench. About the foul over the keeper; I already said that’s an urban legend the fact that you can’t jump with the keeper fighting for the ball.”

President Augusto César Lendoiro also commented the match, “I liked what I saw of Córdoba; they played well in the first part, though we were better in the second. I am content with the players, because you can realize that they are trying to fulfill their duties in order to achieve the promotion as soon as possible, in this way we could be more calmed.”

About possible renewals in the contract of the players, Depor’s boss said that, “We haven’t advanced in the subject of the renewals, because it’s complicated to negotiate with the agents on these days, it seems they are waiting to see what will happen with Deportivo.”

At Córdoba, coach Paco Jémez was pretty content with the performance of his players, “We are sad for losing, but satisfied for the impression left and for the work done on the pitch. To play here, before the leader, isn’t easy, so this is one of the days in which I am more proud of my players. For any professional it’s a privilege to play in a stadium like the Riazor.”

“In the first part we missed too many opportunities, we missed aim and it was key the punch of Depor, but beyond any of those things we must keep working, because we are leaving with the feeling that we can score more goals taking in mind the low number we’ve scored.” He added.

Argentine winger Sebastián Dubarbier was feeling sorry for the wanting opportunities, “We were unlucky to score and later they were the ones scoring the goals. It was unfair, but we must continue working in order to add more points. We played as we planned, and we just missed more luck.”
