The first signing of the season 2012/13 was presented on Friday at the Riazor; Salomão was also there though he played for Depor on the past season. It was know that the buyout option over André Santos is eight million Euros.

André Santos was presented as the new incorporation of Depor and the first reinforcement ahead of the season 2012/13. The act took place at the Riazor and Diogo Salomão was there too. The winger was also presented despite he played for Depor on the Segunda season. First, in the morning, the player passed the medicals before signing his contract.

There were around 300 fans at the stands; to clarify two things; first that the pitch at the Riazor was full of sand as the workers are treating the grass, secondly that both players were wearing the “old” Blanquiazul kit, ending the speculation that the designs for the new season were going to be presented at the same time. Later Lendoiro explained that the design wasn’t presented today as the club only had one sample from each kit.

Santos jumped to the pitch first and after a few touches with the ball Salomão came out, both were photographed by the reporters and later the fans were able to take some pictures with them. The act lasted ten minutes and later both players and Lendoiro went to the press room in order to address the media.

The press conference lasted forty minutes, the major part of the time with president Lendoiro talking of several issues regarding the new signings and the plans for the new season [see the related article]. André Santos was the first one to talk to reporters, he explained what he can do on the pitch, “I can play in almost all the positions at midfield and I am ready to help the team.”

Later he explained that Salomão was one of the persons that convinced him in order to join Deportivo, this since he doesn’t know too much of his future team mates, “The Second Division isn’t followed in Portugal, so I don’t know too much of the players. The true is that I was wishing to play in Spain and I talked with Capel and Jeffren. Deportivo is a big club, they have clinched several trophies, and Salomão explained to me a lot of things; now I hope to play a lot of games and score some goals, but the important thing is to see the team matching the expectations.”

Then Salomão talked with reporters and said that he plans to help his compatriot in order to adapt as soon as possible, “I know the skills of André; I played with him in the past, and will try to help him so he can adapt as soon as possible.” He also pointed out to his target for this season, “Last year I came here in order to help the club. Next year my goal is to play more games.”

Lendoiro explained that both players are coming loaned for one season, in the case with André Santos there’s a buyout option of eight million Euros, while in the case with Salomão it’s a simple loan spell, without any buyout option, just like it happened in the season that has just ended.
