Tasteless game for Deportivo that ends the stage at Vilalba; Oltra’s team missed precision and especially aim to define the scoring opportunities. Again there were several Fabril’s players at the formation and the last signing, Evaldo, made his debut.

Oltra presented a 4-2-3-1 formation for the match; once again Marc Martinez was defending the goal, another Fabril’s player that was repeating his presence at the starting formation was Marcos Caridad, who was joined by Uxio Marcos at the centre of the defense, Laure covered the right-back position and Ayoze played on the left.

Álex Bergantiños and André Santos were the two pivotes at midfield, Saul attacked from the right wing, Victor Diaz, another member of Depor B, covered the left, Valerón was the playmaker and Bodipo the central attacker.

Flat pre-season game for Deportivo; Los Blanquiazules didn’t feel too comfortable at the A Magdalena stadium and missed consistency to dominate the actions, plus aim to define the scoring opportunities. The first ten minutes were calmed, with both teams holding on at the back and rarely releasing any attack.

Both sides missed precision with the passes; the first goal attempt came at minute 10; it was a disallowed goal to attacker Nico due to an offside position. He collected the ball after a cross of Oscar Martinez, who by the way is the brother of Ángel Martinez, the left-back that belongs to Depor B.

In the next play André Santos released a volley that hit the crossbar; he was assisted by Valerón. At minute 15, Saul threw a direct free-kick that local keeper José Angel cleared to corner-kick. Despite these approximations, Oltra’s team had big problems to claim the ball possession during the first half.

At minute 22, Bodipo was close to score after a cross of Ayoze coming from the left, but he didn’t know how to finish the play. RC Vilalbés responded with a corner-kick in which captain Pablo Viveiro missed the target.

Bodipo appeared again two minutes later in a double attempt at the edge of the area, but José Ángel made the saves. The Equatoguinean attacker had three opportunities within the first twenty-five minutes, his team, however, was lacking clarity and ideas up front. The ball wasn’t reaching the boots of Valerón as André Santos and Álex were too imprecise with the passes.

Still, André Santos was the other player having several opportunities to score the first goal; at minute 30 the Portuguese released a strong shot from 25 meters that missed the target. One minute later Saul attempted from the edge of the area, but he also missed the target, and then André Santos was again close to score with a drilling shot that went out close to the far post (33’).

But it was Bodipo who had the clearest chance of the first half after an assist from Saul, but again José Angel stopped the attempt from the African attacker. Three minutes later Bodipo was fouled inside the area by the local keeper, but the referee didn’t whistle the penalty. The last opportunity in this half was for André Santos, who was assisted by Álex inside the box, but his shot went over the crossbar (45’).

For the second part Oltra made nine changes, as it happened against Viveiro two players from Fabril were the only ones that stayed over the grass: keeper Marc Martinez and centre back Uxio. But the changes didn’t improve the poor impression left by the team in the first part; once again the team lacked precision and mainly aim to define the plays. At minute 55, Jesús Vázquez attempted from long-range, but he missed the target.

Then Evaldo made his debut with Deportivo replacing Uxio; the move pulled Diego Seoane to the centre of the defense, an unusual position for him, while the Brazilian was performing on the left side. He had a decent performance and constantly joined the attacks of Deportivo.

At minute 63, Riki had his first goal attempt, this after collecting a pass from Bruno Gama, but keeper ángel Fraga made the save, this last one is a 15-year-old goalkeeper from the Juvenile squad that was making his debut with the first team and that left a positive impression.

Depor still was an imprecise team having big problems in order to step into the rival’s area. Meanwhile the locals renounced to the ball possession and were trying to surprise through the counterattack, but without too much luck, so the game was imprecise, and boring at some point.

And Deportivo broke the deadlock thanks to Juan Carlos, who completed a perfect pass that allowed Bruno Gama to face Ángel one-on-one and this time the Portuguese winger defined the play. The action of the goal begun with Evaldo regaining the ball at midfield. It was going to be the lonely goal in the clash.

Oltra’s team dominated the last stretch of the game was closer to score a second goal within the final fifteen minutes, but first Jesús Vázquez missed the target (74’) and later Ángel made a great save before the shot of Riki (77’). The next pre-season game for Oltra’s team is on Wednesday as Deportivo visits SD Ponferradina, a recently promoted club to Segunda A (20h30 CET).
