The criticism towards the players is not affecting the unity inside the changing room; key men at the squad are defending the performance of Evaldo and assure that Depor’s latest results are a product of the whole team and not of some particular cases.

Depor’s players are aware of the criticism towards some of the players, especially against Evaldo, but they want to assume their responsibility and defend the Brazilian stating that all the players are to blame for the latest results of the team.

The first man that addressed the media was veteran Juan Carlos Valerón; the Canarian playmaker said that the poor results of Depor are a responsibility of everybody, “We all are responsible. You can’t point out and neither said that one particular player should be blamed. We all try to do our best. When we win, we all win, and it’s the same when we lose.”

About the criticism towards Evaldo, El Flaco said that, “These are normal things in football that you must admit. The true is that we all are happy with his performance as a professional. He trains at the top and all the players try to do their best. When things go wrong all the players are responsible. We are worried, which is logical and normal, but at the same time the full team is trying to overcome the situation and react as soon as possible.”

Goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia shared his opinion, “When a player is criticized we can only support him, it’s not fair that after three straight defeats the criticism is focused in one single player. We all have committed errors and that’s the reason that caused the three straight defeats. People can give their opinion on the team and is normal to see some of the players receiving criticism.”

Finally, Álex Bergantiños believes that not only the defense is the one to blame for the poor results in recent matchdays, “We [the midfielders] are the ones that bring balance to the team and try to provide the aids to the defense, but it isn’t the only factor that’s failing. We all are all failing a little bit, both in an individual and collective sense. If not the results would be different.”
