Only Laure and Ayoze are going to miss the debut of Domingos Paciência at Deportivo; the Portuguese coach has been insisting with the defensive tasks during the trainings. Meanwhile, the rival arrives to the Riazor with the only casualty of Baptista.

New coach Domingos Paciência debuts on Saturday as Deportivo face the first game of 2013 hosting Malaga CF (20h00 CET). The Galicians need the three points if they don’t want to lose the track in the race for the permanence.

The Portuguese coach has directed three training sessions so far, the three of them were long sessions emphasizing the defensive tasks. On Tuesday’s session Domingos tested a 4-2-3-1 formation that was practically the same one that faced RCD Espanyol. One day later there was a double session. In the first he divided the squad in two groups (defenders and attackers) and practiced some aspects of the game.

The same happened in the second, though this time he tested this 4-2-3-1 lineup: Lux - Manuel Pablo, Marchena, Ze Castro, Evaldo - Álex, Abel Aguilar - Bruno Gama, Valerón, Camuñas – Riki. During the training match Pizzi replaced Valerón and Nélson Oliveira did the same with Riki.

There will be two players out for Saturday’s game. The first one is Laureano Sanabria ´Laure´, the Madrilenian right-back is now suffering a groin injury (pubalgy) derived from the pelvic block that sidelined him of the last match in 2012. The other absentee is left-back Ayoze Diaz, who remains out due to an adductor injury.

Ze Castro, meanwhile, is returning after missing the game against RCD Espanyol due to a Soleus injury. There was a high expectation on the team during these first sessions, in the first one (Jan 1) there were around 500 fans at Abegondo.

At Malaga CF, coach Manuel Pellegrini is facing a very comfortable situation, living inside the Champions League zone after defeating Real Madrid in the last match of 2012 (3-2). As reward the players returned to the training pitch until Wednesday and they did it opening the doors to the fans. Around 4,500 supported watched the training session. In the end the Andalusians will only have three sessions before traveling to A Coruña.

The only confirmed casualty for the game is playmaker Julio Baptista; “The Beast” has missed the entire season due to a Soleus and Achilles injury. Centre midfielder Jeremy Toulalan is already recovered from a muscle injury, but it isn’t certain if he will be picked for the game at the Riazor.

Meanwhile, centre-back Weligton Robson Pena is returning from suspension and will surely be a starter on Saturday.  Pellegrini used a 4-1-4-1 formation for the meeting against Madrid, now it’s expected that he will return to the 4-2-3-1.
