Deportivo B began the second round at Tercera with a defeat in the mini Galician derby. Devesa’s boys played a great first half, they reacted in the second part, but it was too late. Sidibé scored a disallowed goal at the last minute.

Coach José Luis Devesa was recovering centre-back Uxío Marcos, but Juan Carlos stayed on the bench as he was close to join SD Huesca. Besides, keeper Ricky Alonso and centre midfielder Richi were still out injured. Juvenil A goalie David Gómez was picked in order to fill the gap on the bench.

The formation was a 4-2-3-1. Marc Martinez defended the goal; Iván Garrido played at the right-back position, Ángel Martinez did it at the left side, while Uxío returned and joined Pablo Insua at the centre of the defense. Oumar Sidibé and Paulo Teles were the centre midfielders, Álvaro Lemos covered the right wing, Jorge Romay was the playmaker, Jorge Cano attacked from the left and Diego Vela performed as a false nine.

The rival was Celta B, the mini derby was a direct meeting between two rivals that had a 2-2 draw in the opening matchday, which means that the side clinching the victory on this game was going to have an advantage in an hypothetical tie-breaker. The top-scorers of the team, ex-Depor David Añon (8) and Asturian Javier López ‘Camochu’ (7), were starters,  but right-back Jonathan Castro ´Jonny´ was unavailable after playing with the first team for the liga visit to RCD Espanyol.

Deportivo B paid the price for arriving too late to the match. Devesa’s boys got distracted by an early goal and could have ended the first half with a bigger loss, in the second part Celta B retreated and they were close to pay the price for it as Fabril pushed for the equalizer. Celta B won the battle, but Depor B remain in the war for promotion.

The first ten minutes were equal, with a Fabril that was looking serious at the back and a Celta B that was studying the rival. As a result of this situation there were no shots on target within the period, only one corner-kick for each side and two wide shots from the locals. Then, Celta B scored the first goal in the game.

It was an action that began with a high cross from the left, the ball went into the right corner of the box, Camochu headed the ball there and into the far post, Marc Martinez was unable to reach it and David Añon had no opposition to score the goal through a short-range header. The ex-Depor player, who played with the first team with Lotina, celebrated the goal smashing the shield of Celta on his shirt, something that upsetted some fans.

Who wasn’t upset was Fabril; actually the visiting team seemed disoriented after the goal and barely did anything on the field. The locals had the ball possession and could have scored more goals. The first approximation of Depor B came at minute 22, it was a high cross of Teles during a free-kick that was caught by local goalie Rubén Blanco.

Ironically, the second goal was born of that play as Celta B scored in the counterattack. It was an unfortunate and accidental play, winger Félix Rial tried to assist Camochu on the left wing, but the striker was marked by three defenders, Uxío tried to clear the ball, it just hit the back of the striker and it went back into the path of Félix, who was alone enough to enter into the area and beat Marc Martinez with a crossed shot.

Only 22 minutes have passed and Depor B was already losing by two goals; still, there was only a small reaction when a combination between Cano and Vela ended with the latter one shooting on target, attempt that was saved by Rubén. Celta B had more opportunities, but they never materialized their opportunities.

For the second half, Devesa kept the 4-2-3-1 draw, but this time playing with a natural striker on the field, in this sense Luis Fernandez replaced Cano, now Luis was the central attacker and Diego Vela was the left winger. The modification worked out, but also with the help of the rival as they started to retreat in order to protect the victory.

Celta B was still controlling the actions within the first minutes of the second half, without having the needed depth to create the same clear opportunities of the first part, but it was enough to contain any possible attack from Fabril. In this way there were no clear scoring opportunities within the first twenty minutes.

It was necessary to see a defender joining the attacks in order to cheer up a derby that was turning to be boring, Pablo Insua go the ball at his side of his field and began and long rung that was going to end in the lonely goal for the visitors. He eluded three rivals and assisted Romay at midfield, then the playmaker made a precise short pass returning the ball to the centre-back, the move ripped off the defense and allowed Insua to enter the area and beat Rubén with the astonishing cold blood of a striker.

The goal brought the nerves at the local team while it raised the spirit of the visitors, Devesa made a second change and Victor Díaz refreshed the attack replacing Vela. Still, Depor B never created any clear chance; they just surrounded the local area. In this moment on the game the best chance came at minute 75 with a wide attempt of Luis.

But there was a big chance at the last minute; Romay threw a corner-kick on the left, the ball went into the edge of the area, the ball never hit the ground and Lemos released a shot that hit a rival and then went into the path of both Marc Martinez, who desperately joined the last attack in the game, and Sidibé, the African striker was the one that ended scoring the goal from the penalty box, but both players were clearly in offside position and the goal was disallowed.

Sixth defeat on the season for Deportivo B. This was a derby and the true is that Devesa’s boys understood it until the second part. They pushed at the end, but it was too late after been at mercy of Celta B in the first part. The only good news is that UD Somozas could only rescue a point from the visit to third place SD Compostela, so Depor B remain fourth at the standings. On Saturday, the team returns to Abegondo in order to face 13th place UD Barbadás (17h00 CET).

Comments of Devesa: ”The match was decided by punctual aspects. You must know how to make decisions, both in attack and defense. At the beginning of the game we didn’t do it and Celta seized the moment to score. That was the fact that unbalanced the team. In the second half we had the better opportunities, but missed the goals. We are content with our game, but the result was negative.”
