REVIEW: FABRIL 0 – ORDES 2 (TERCERA)

07 Feb 2013
First home defeat of Deportivo B after five months; Devesa’s players were unable to break the deadlock of a solid defense. At least the team remains living in the promotion zone as the direct rivals failed in their respective games.

BEFORE THE GAME
Left-back Ángel Martinez returned from suspension, though he surprisingly he wasn’t a starter. Centre-back Pablo Insua was concentrated with the first team, so Roberto Suárez ‘Róber’ was once again a starter with the team. Right-back Iván Garrido was suspended after been sent off in the previous match. Keeper Ricky Alonso, centre midfielder Richi and centre-back Marcos Caridad were out injured.

The draw was a 4-2-3-1. Marc Martinez defended the goal; Jose Manuel played for the first time in 2013 covering the right-back position, midfielder Adrián Martinez was performing at the left, while Róber joined Uxío Marcos at the centre of the defense. Oumar Sidibé and Paulo Teles were the centre midfielders, Álvaro Lemos covered the right wing, Jorge Romay was the playmaker, Diego Vela attacked from the left and Luis Fernández was the central attacker.

The rival was Órdes SD, club targeting to enter into the promotion zone and that remains undefeated in 2013. The curiosity of the team coached by José Ignacio Fernández is that only six players have scored goals on this season, 12 of the 29 goals were netted by striker Ignacio Fernández ´Nacho’, the second best scorer is midfielder Esteban Capelo (7), who was part of Depor Juvenil A squad in the past. Ex-Depor man Carlos Padín was also a starter in the game.

THE MATCH
Flat game of Fabril at Abegondo; there were no ideas up front and neither will to win a vital game at home. The early exit of Romay complicated the situation and Devesa’s boys never knew how to overcome a defensive line that was well planted on the field, Besides they scored the goals at the precise moment.

The start of the game was promising, with Teles having the first goal attempt with a shot that missed the target at minute 5, but soon it was clear that this wasn’t going to be the day for Deportivo B. And it’s that the local team was missing the needed spark to surpass a rival that just needed order to clinch the three points.

Besides they were effective enough and stroke at the precise moment. Órdes scored the first goal in the first clear opportunity that they had. It was a combination between Ángel Cao and Capelo that ended with a cross that was headed by Nacho inside the area, the ball hit the crossbar and went into the back of the net.

Ten minutes later Jorge Romay had to be replaced due to an injury; Ángel took his place and the Catalan covered the left-back position, moving Adrián Martinez to midfield and Teles to the playmaking function. The Portuguese was pretty active in the game, but missed more participation from the wingers, so the attacking efforts were focused by the centre. The clearest chance in the first half for the locals was a free-kick of Luis stopped by visiting goalie Mario.

Devesa didn’t see things clear and he sent Victor Díaz into the pitch replacing Adrián Martinez and the draw was switched into a 4-1-4-1. But what the coach found was the second goal of Órdes, scored this time by Padín with a shot from close range.

Fabril was petrified; the team wasn’t having the same intensity of past games and barely created opportunities, just a couple of long-range attempts from Sidibé and Luis that missed the target. Coach Devesa was desperate and ordered the last modification, it was the entry of Jorge Cano for José Manuel switching the draw again, this time into a 3-5-2. It didn’t work as there were no more scoring opportunities.

AFTER THE GAME
Depor B suffered the second home defeat on the season, the first in five months after completing a disappointing presentation before a serious rival. Devesa’s kids missed more offensive ideas and even will to attack. The only good news is that UD Somozas and Pontevedra CF failed to win their games, so Fabril remain fourth at the standings. The next game is the visit to AS Pontes (Saturday, O Poboado field, 18h00 CET).

Comments of Devesa: ”The rival played as we expected. Órdes retreated and we had the ball possession. It was a complicate clash, a game in which they were highly effective while us missed more aim. We only attempted from long range. We never found synchronicity and lost precision. We must learn to identify these things. Also missed more game on the wings, that’s why we failed reading the game.”
