REVIEW: FABRIL 4 – SOMOZAS 1 (TERCERA)

26 Mar 2013
New convincing victory for Deportivo and once again the result was sorted out in the second half; Luis was suspended so Víctor scored a brace with Romay been the motor of the team. Fabril remain as the third place at the standings.

BEFORE THE GAME
Coach José Luis Devesa finally had available all his normal starters at defense, because Uxío Marcos and Pablo Insua were back, plus side defenders Iván Garrido and Ángel Martinez. However the coach improvised once again as he seems determined to reconvert both Diego Vela and Adrián Martinez for the sides. The biggest casualty was Pichichi Luis Fernandez, who was suspended. The list of casualties was completed with the injured duo: centre midfielder Richi and striker Dani Iglesias.

The system was a 4-2-3-1. Marc Martinez defended the goal; Diego Vela performed at the right-back position, Adrián played at the left, while Insua and Uxío were the centre-backs. Oumar Sidibé was back from suspension and joined Teles at midfield, Álvaro Lemos attacked from the right wing, Jorge Romay was the playmaker, Jorge Cano covered the left flank, and Víctor Díaz was the central attacker.

The rival was UD Somozas, an aspirant to the promotion places that’s running out of gas, this since they have missed the victory in their previous seven matches. The team is coached by Miguel Ángel Alonso and the main reference in attack is Carlos García, who had netted nine goals before this game.

THE MATCH
The game was a copy of the previous meeting against Betanzos CF, because Fabril had many problems to surpass the defensive wall of the visiting team within the first minutes and it was until the second part that the victory was secured. Once again the team showed up that offensive and deadly punch that has brought so many big scores within the last meetings at Tercera.

Jorge Romay was the big actor for Depor B; he was part of almost all the important actions in attack and participated in three of the four goals. Within the first twenty minutes he was the only player that created damage up front, more specifically two actions. In the first Romay assisted Lemos and his cross was headed by Víctor, but the ball went wide (21’); in the second he assisted Vela, new cross into the area and the attempt of Cano was cleared by visiting goalie Francisco Fernández ‘Paco’

The third scoring opportunity for Depor B was a direct free kick of Teles that went directly into the hands of Paco (25’). At this point the locals were already deserving to score a goal, but they were unable to break the deadlock of Somozas, but then Romay showed up to assist Adrián Martinez, who released a cross from the left that Víctor Díaz found at the edge of the area to release a shot that hit the crossbar before getting in.

Somozas gave up after the goal and things were pretty easy for Fabril during the second part, and it’s that by minute 53 they were already winning 3.-0. The second goal was also scored by Víctor, Lemos released a cross from the right and Victor released a drilling attempt trying to cross Paco, but the ball hit defender Álex Bao and turned into a volley that went into the back of the net.

Two minutes later Romay himself was going to score the best goal in the match; he collected a pass from Vela at the edge of the area and unleashed an accurate shot that meant his fourth goal of the season. Then Devesa ordered the first substitution and Álex Pérez replaced Víctor.

Precisely Álex was going to be the scorer of the fourth goal; again Romay was involved in the play as his header turned to be the perfect assist for the goal. Devesa refreshed the defense with the entries of Ángel and Iván replacing Insua and Lemos, and Somozas found a goal at the last minutes after Diego Rey attempted from the edge of the area.

AFTER THE GAME
New demonstration of power from Deportivo B; the team didn’t play a solid game, but their punch in attack was enough to defeat a rival in a downward spiral. Víctor scored a brace, but the best player in the game was Romay, highly involved in the game of his team and actor in three of the four goals. The result leaves the team at the third position at the standings, five points above fifth place Pontevedra CF. On Wednesday, Depor visit Club Rápido de Bouzas (Baltasar Pujales field, 20h30 CET)

Comments of Devesa: ”I’m pretty content with the team; for the way they run across the field. Even with the score in favour and with the game totally under control you could witness some movements at the moment of enlarging the field; it’s something impressive, even I ended surprised.”
