It seems that Deportivo have found the substitute for Valer??n. It's Joan Verd??, a new youngster that will come from Barcelona B. The likes of Celta, Espanyol and AC Milan were after him, but the presence of Rodri and Cristian in La Coru?a were decisive factors in closing the transfer.

Sportpaper AS reported that Lendoiro has signed a new player from Barcelona B. Joan Verd?? is a 23-year-old midfielder that has impressed with his skills. Celta were close to clinching his signature, but the youngster preferred the option of Depor since his friends Rodri and Cristian have already joined the Galician squad.

According to AS, the formula used by Lendoiro is the same one as used in the cases with Rodri and Cristian. Deportivo will sign the player and Barcelona have a buyout option of €700,000. This option can only be used at the end of the season 2006/2007. During the day it was highly speculated that Deportivo were edging closer to capturing a replacement for Valer??n and it seems that Lendoiro has fulfilled the job.

The Catalan midfielder had been considered as one of the main promises in Barcelona. He was playing the pre-season with the Catalan first squad, but coach Rijkaard has preferred the option of Giovanni Dos Santos. The club hasn't confirmed the news, but according to AS the player is on his way to La Coru?a.
