DEPORTIVO RELEGATED TO LIGA ADELANTE

02 Jun 2013
Déjŕ vu for Deportivo as the Galicians were unable to score against Real Sociedad. A new relegation and now the Galicians will have to begin, again, from Segunda División. It isn’t clear if Fernando Vázquez will lead the new project.

It was a dramatic season for Deportivo, three coaches passed through the bench, also the Galician team was the bottom team during 13 matchdays on the season, at some point lying eight points behind the safety, but the latest reaction starred by Fernando Vázquez gave hope to the Blanquiazul outfit, unfortunately it wasn’t enough to clinch the permanence. This after the Galicians were unable to beat Real Sociedad at the Riazor and ended losing 0-1 at the Riazor.

This is the tenth relegation suffered by Deportivo at Primera División, and the second within the last three seasons. The Galicians now return to Segunda División in order to play their 40th season in that league. A new setback that could drag financial consequences, but the force of Deportivismo is stronger and it’s time to fight back in order to put back the team at the top-flight.

It isn’t clear yet if Fernando Vázquez is going to continue with the team, president Lendoiro told to TVG that the Galician tactician will be in charge of the team at Segunda, but the coach himself didn’t want to talk of the subject during his press conference, though he expressed his will in doing it. What was confirmed was the exit of Juan Carlos Valerón, who announced his exit from the club one hour after the final whistle.
