The club already decided to begin the pre-season stage on July 5, on that day thirteen players will begin to train. There will be a mini-stage in a place still to be determined. The Segunda tournament begins on August 18.

The kick-off of the season 2013/14 at Deportivo has been delayed in four days, at the beginning coach Fernando Vázquez announced that the team was going to start training on July 1, in the end the club decided that it will be on Friday, July 5 (09h00 CET). For that first training session the club has picked thirteen players, ten of them were at the team that suffered the relegation on the last Primera season, while three are men returning from loan spells.

These players are: goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia, right-backs Laure, Diego Seoane and Manuel Pablo, centre-backs Ze Castro, David Rochela and Aythami Artiles, left-back Ayoze Díaz, centre midfielders Álex Bergantiños, Paulo Assunção and Juan Dominguez, playmaker Juan Carlos plus right winger Bruno Gama.

During the first week of trainings the players will work at Abegondo, later there will be a stage in a place still to be determined. The two Galician cities that have been studied are Monforte and Vilalba. The exact dates of this stage and the friendly matches still to be announced. It will be a short pre-season –only six weeks- because the liga tournament begins early due to the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

La Liga already released the dates for the season 2013/14 at Primera & Segunda División. Both tournaments begin on Sunday, August 18. At Liga Adelante there won’t be any matchday to be played in midweek, so Depor will play the 42 games on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Meanwhile the Liga BBVA will have three midweek matchdays (6, 11 & 30).

The leagues start early as, according to the dispositions of FIFA, the league tournaments should end on May 18, 2014, because the national teams need to prepare the World Cup 2014. Still, the Segunda tournament will pass the deadline as the tournament will end until June 8, 2014. The promotion playoffs are scheduled for June 11 & 15 (first round) and June 18 & 22 (second round).

The Copa Del Rey 2013/14 will begin on August 28, but Deportivo will start to compete in the second round, which should be played on September 11. The novelty on this season is that, in case of reaching the last 16 round, then Deportivo will be play the match on this round during a weekend (December 6, 7, 8), this means that matchday 17 will be postponed. La Liga didn’t clarify when the liga game should be played, only that it should be disputed before March 26, 2014. Finally, the final in Copa Del Rey will be played on Saturday, April 19, 2014.
