The club announced on Tuesday that Serbian centre back Stefan Deák will make the pre-season with the first team. He’s the 14th player that will take part of the pre-season stage starting on July 5 at Abegondo.

It was surprising call made by the club, because Stefan Deák hasn’t had good seasons in Hungary and neither was a vital player when he performed for Deportivo B, actually that was the reason why the club sent him out. He arrived to the club when he was 19 and was a bet of Ernesto Bello, who thought he could be the future centre-back of the first team (his contract last until 2015).

The 22-year-old centre-back never left a positive impression in the few matches that he played at Depor B and was loaned to a Israel club for the past season, on the campaign that has just ended he was loaned to BFC Siófok from Hungary. He made 14 appearances in a season of 30 matches (1,155 minutes) and the true is that the Serbian left a mediocre impression, without committing too many errors, but neither without been considered a vital piece at the team.

Now coach Fernando Vázquez has fourteen players for the first training sessions: goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia, right-backs Laure, Diego Seoane and Manuel Pablo, centre-backs Ze Castro, David Rochela, Stefan Deák and Aythami Artiles, left-back Ayoze Díaz, centre midfielders Álex Bergantińos, Paulo Assunçăo and Juan Dominguez, playmaker Juan Carlos plus right winger Bruno Gama.

The presence of Stefan Deák doesn’t mean that the Serbian will be part of the team during the Segunda season, just that coach Fernando Vázquez will see him and later will make a decision on his future. After all the centre of the defense is the one of the two sectors where the team already has two players per position.

The team will begin the pre-season training at Abegondo on July 5, and one week later the group will make a special stage as it’s a tradition at Deportivo. The club was studying the options of doing this stage in Vilalba or in Monforte de Lemos, according several sources the latter will be the chosen one.

Monforte de Lemos is a small city located in the province of Lugo. The major of the city, Severino Rodríguez, has been pushing in order to see Deportivo making the pre-season there. They offer a training pitch, poll, gym, spa and other facilities to the players.
