MATCHDAY 04: ONLY THREE UNDEFEATED TEAMS

14 Sep 2013
As it was expected the situation at Segunda División is pretty thigh, with only three points separating the first ten teams and with only three clubs remaining undefeated. Some of the favourites are having a tough start.

CD Mirandés, Sporting Gijón and CD Numancia are the only three clubs that remain undefeated at Liga Adelante 2013/14. CD Mirandés is the surprising leader after a 0-1 win visiting Real Madrid Castilla, the latter in one of the three teams in the competition that haven’t clinched victories after the first four matches (the others are Real Zaragoza and CD Tenerife). In any case it’s hard to make conclusions at this point as the situation is pretty thigh, with only three points separating the leader from the tenth place.

Last week’s leader, AD Alcorcón, was defeated by RCD Mallorca playing in Soin Moix (2-1) and is now lying at the second position. Sporting Gijón is the third place and remain undefeated, though they suffered a lot in order to extract a point from their visit to SD Ponferradina (2-2). Meanwhile, Real Murcia climbed to the fourth position after their surprising win at the Riazor facing Deportivo (0-1).

Girona FC was another of the losers on the weekend as they were trashed by Real Jaén, the latter clinched their first win of the season (3-1). The Catalans are fifth tied in points CD Lugo; the Galicians made history and clinched their first big victory of the season visiting Real Zaragoza (0-1).

Barcelona B are having a strong start and on this opportunity they clinched a meritorious 2-2 draw visiting CD Tenerife.  Meanwhile, Córdoba CF fell from the promotion zone after a painful 1-0 loss visiting SD Eibar, it was painful because the goal was scored in the stoppage time.

Deportivo are having an erratic behavior after winning both away games, but losing the two disputed at home. For this reason they are currently lying at the 12th position, though only one point below the promotion zone. They are joined by Deportivo Alavés and CE Sabadell CF, plus CD Numancia and UD Las Palmas, sides that drew 1-1 in their respective meetings. Recreativo de Huelva closed the matchday with a 2-0 win over Hércules CF.

There are surprises at the relegation zone as two of the favourites for the promotion seats, RCD Mallorca and Real Zaragoza, are currently there. At RCD Mallorca the situation reached a difficult point for coach Oltra after his team was humiliated in Copa. It was rumoured he was going to be sacked, but for now he will last until the weekend.
