DEPORTIVO IN OCTOBER

02 Oct 2013
Fernando Vázquez and his players will face five new challenges during the month of October, including one for Copa Del Rey. The biggest game is the home meeting against Real Zaragoza. Three of the rivals are currently at the drop zone.

Five matches for Deportivo in October. Four of the meetings are in liga against teams that aren’t living a good moment; actually two of these teams are currently in relegation; in the middle the match for the third round of Copa Del Rey facing another team in relegation. It could be a nice opportunity to climb positions at the standings.

The first rival in the month will be CD Mirandés; Los Rojillos are currently living inside the promotion zone, a big achievement considering their main aspiration is to survive, but the true is that they are have had problems with the injuries hitting their team and it has affected their performance.

Three weeks ago they were the leaders at Segunda, but then suffered two straight losses, including a big 0-3 at home hosting Recreativo de Huelva. They were also eliminated from Copa Del Rey in the penalty shootout against CD Lugo. They just returned to winning ways on last weekend hosting SD Ponferradina.

A visit to the Mini Estadi in order to meet Barcelona B is the next match in the schedule. The Catalans had a positive start as they won three of their five first games, reason why they were inside the promotion zone, but later lost two games in a row and are currently below Deportivo.

In midweek, Deportivo travel again to Andalusia in order to face the meeting in Copa Del Rey, this time visiting Real Jaén. They surprisingly eliminated CD Numancia in the second round, but the true is that their start of season has been poor as they have only added four points after seven meetings. For this reason they are currently penultimate at the standings. Their main problem is the large number of allowed goals: 15 (the worst mark at Segunda).

The biggest match in the month is the visit of Real Zaragoza to the Riazor. Los Maños are having problems to adapt to the league after the relegation. They already lost three times and are currently five points below the promotion seats. The good thing for the Aragonians is that they are already eliminated in Copa, so they will be rested for the trip to A Coruña, while Depor will have little time to prepare the clash.

October ends with the visit to CD Tenerife. The Canarians are having a lot of problems in their returning campaign to Segunda and just won their first game in the campaign, though it was against the worst team in the competition –Real Madrid Castilla- They are currently at the drop zone despite only allowing 7 goals, the problem is that they are the second worst attack with only 3 goals scored in 7 matches.
