Disappointment after Deportivo played the worst game of the season. The coach and the players are aware of the problems with the set-pieces and the lack of ideas at the moment of creating scoring opportunities.

Coach Fernando Vázquez was accepting the defeat, “After watching the game I can only congratulate Tenerife, because they did a better job compared to us. My team misses the ability to create unbalance when it has the ball possession and also to defend the set-pieces in a better way, which is our worst point. We have allowed seven goals, five of them on set-pieces.”

“We need to create more danger. You prepare the team in order to unbalance the rival; it happened today against Tenerife as we were unable to do it. At home it has been hard to play the games. We need to improve in this sense. There are a lot of things to improve, because in this league it’s difficult to win all the games with a 0-1 or a 1-0 score.” He added.

Álex Bergantiños was commenting the sad game of Deportivo, “"Clearly it is costing us too much going forward. We did a very hasty game without quality to penetrate the rival’s defense. We’re saddened for how things were and we need to work in order to improve.”

"We didn’t have the ball possession and didn’t generate scoring opportunities. Tenerife were expecting for us and in this way it’s more difficult. Now the important thing is the next game at home, with the visit of Madrid’s second team. We have to start winning at the Riazor and it’s an opponent that can be good for us.” He added.

Centre-back Pablo Insua was feeling sorry for allowing again a goal after a set-piece, “We were fine, but it’s always the same. We are allowing too many goals in set-pieces. I don't know what happened. We aren't defending properly the strategic plays and today we lost.”

“We weren’t creating too much danger despite having the weight of the game at or side. Later they scored and the game changed. We aren't clear with our game and it’s complicate in this way to score the goals. Now we must try to improve and try to create more chances.” The Galician player added.

Juan Dominguez was repeating the speech of his team mate, “We are having many problems with the set-pieces. Today it happened again and now we must try, in any possible way, to avoid the same situations. We also missed more depth in attack and to find the proper way to create some damage before Tenerife.”

“At half-time we talked and assured that the game was going to be equal and that it would be decided by any detail, so we tried to be together at defense and avoid surprises with any internal pass and in the end we suffered the defeat in a set-piece.” The midfielder added.

Captain Manuel Pablo was also analyzing Depor’s problems, “The movement of the ball in attack has been hard for us and from there our problems at defense are flowing out. We need to improve as the team is missing ideas with the last pass. I believe we are missing solutions. At home things are complicated and on the road we have been better, but is still hard. This is a problem and sometimes it affects the defense, because the rival caught us wide open, like today, and they scored the goal.”

“We lost the ball at the centre, Tenerife were focused and seizes the fact that they had two strikers on the pitch, besides they know how to hold on the ball. They created problems, because we were trying to put pressure up front in order to steal the ball closer to their goal. The problem with the set-pieces cannot be a psychosis, because we cannot to be afraid and that’s bad. Until today the problem was the concentration, but today it was different. They were more intense.”

At Tenerife, coach Álvaro Cervera was celebrating the victory, “It was going to arrive the day when we were going to see the light. We were coming from a very difficult situation, but now we have defeated Ponferradina and Deportivo. When things are worse you come and win a couple of games, besides clinching a clean sheet. Now we are better and happier.”

“Normally the comments outside the changing room aren’t positive when there are no scoring opportunities against you, but it’s true that the rival is what it is and they never made a shot on target. We scored twice and with an open game we had more opportunities to score. Things were as we wanted, and it was because we claimed the lead.” He added.

Ex-Fabril Aridane Santana commented that, “Today was a good day. The team deserved to claim the three points. We scored twice and they never had an opportunity, which is positive. There’s unity inside the changing room and you can see it in games like this one. We are leaving with a 2-0 result against a rival like Deportivo, which is among the strongest in the league. Deportivo are among the best visitors and we made a solid match.”
