New battle in the quest for promotion as Depor return to Santo Domingo, place where it lived a nightmare two years ago. Now the rival is different and Fernando Vázquez is facing a situation in which there are no injury concerns.

This visit is recalling the sad memories of two years ago, time when Depor were trashed 0-4 at Santo Domingo, their only visit to that stadium. However AD Alcorcón haven’t been a strong team at home on this season, it’s one of their many weaknesses. The Madrilenians are the worst local team in the league with only 14 points in 12 home meetings, this after only winning three matches there.

Actually they don’t win a home clash since September. Their only wins at Santo Domingo were: 1-0 Vs. CD Tenerife (matchday 01), 3-0 Vs. RC Recreativo (matchday 03) and 2-0 Vs. Deportivo Alavés (matchday 07). Since then they have played eight home meetings clinching five draws and suffering three defeats.

Meanwhile, Depor arrive to the meeting with the label of been the best visiting team in the league. The Galicians have added 22 points in the 12 away meetings of the season, and they won seven of those matches only losing four times.

The true is that the current season is a very particular case for AD Alcorcón. The Madrilenian outfit has only conceded 24 goals, which is the fourth best mark in the league, only below Depor (19), SD Eibar (21) and CD Numancia (23). However Los Alfareros have been going in and out of relegation and the cause is the poor offensive record of the team.

And it’s that Alcorcón have only scored 26 goals in 26 matches, the third worst mark at Liga Adelante. They were the worst until last weekend, but their 0-2 win over SD Ponferradina allowed them to improve the record of CD Mirandés and UD Las Palmas (both with 25).  In this way Deportivo is facing one of the worst scorers in the league just one week after playing against the best offense in the tournament.

A final and interesting stat: Depor have spent four years without winning a liga game in Madrid. Within the period the Galicians played 9 games visiting Real Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, Atlético Madrid, Getafe CF and AD Alcorcón and lost all those games with an aggregate mark of 5 goals scored and 35 goals allowed. The last time Depor won a game in Madrid was a 0-2 victory over Getafe CF (November 7, 2009)

For the first time on the season there are no injury concerns at Deportivo ahead of a liga meeting. Late on Friday, German Lux received the medical okay to play and was immediately included in the list for the game against AD Alcorcón. The Argentine man has been off for a month after twisting his knee during the game against Córdoba.

Meanwhile, winger Álvaro Lemos received the okay of doctors during Saturday’s morning. He wasn’t included neither in the list of Depor nor in the one of Fabril, but will soon begin to play. In this way the twenty-one men at Depor’s first team are fit to play.

It means that, for the first time on this season, coach Fernando Vázquez has no injury problems ahead of an official meeting. It’s great news for a short squad that was reinforced during the winter window and that for some games it was even forced to pick three players from Depor B in order to fill up the gaps.

Now, Vázquez had to rule out three players: playmaker Juan Carlos Real, right winger Ibrahim Sissoko, striker Luis Fernández, plus Fabril’s keeper Marc Martinez. It’s surprising to see that Luis is out of the list.

The coach didn’t give too many explanations on the reasons why Luis wasn’t included in the list for the game, neither brought clues about the lineup for the game, but it’s expected a 4-2-3-1 with some novelties. Fabricio will continue at the goal, Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ performs at the right-back position, Pablo Insua and Carlos Marchena remain at the central positions, while the first change is that Luisinho advances his position and will now be a winger opening a gap for Manuel Pablo at the left side of the defense.

Therefore Diogo Salomão switches his position to the right wing, with Bryan Rabello staying in the playmaker’s role. Juan Dominguez and Álex Bergantiños will continue to perform at midfield, finally Borja Bastón is expected to be the starting striker though Vázquez left an open door to Toché.

Antonio Núñez, who’s expected to be on the bench, said before the game that this is a critical moment for Depor, ”I believe this is a crucial moment in la liga. If you now enter into a negative streak then it could be really expensive. The Segunda División has never been a bed of roses. Each Sunday you have to fight. It’s now time to start deciding things.”

Marchena was remembering that Depor must be strong in set-pieces after allowing a goal in these kind of plays within the last three games, ”There isn’t nervousness, but more tension than usual. Anyway it’s a good sign that the team is reacting to the adverse circumstances. We must make the game of the season at the moment of defending the set-pieces. Alcorcón is a rival that seizes these kinds of actions and we must be prepared."

List of picked players (18): Lux, Fabricio (goalkeepers); Laure, Luisinho, Manuel Pablo, Seoane, Lopo, Insua, Marchena (defenders);  Álex Bergantiños, Juan Dominguez, Wilk, Salomão, Núñez, Rabello (midfielders); Arizmendi, Borja Bastón & Toché (attackers)

It’s hard to achieve a successful campaign in any league without a positive performance at home. And that’s what’s killing the season of AD Alcorcón, club used to take part of the playoffs in the past three years, and that’s now worried of avoiding relegation. Ad it’s that the Madrilenians are the worst local team in the league and remain winless in Santo Domingo since September 28.

So, it isn’t a surprise to notice that AD Alcorcón represent the team that has scored the lesser number of goals at home during this season (9), neither that it’s only one of the three clubs in the league that doesn’t have a positive goal average for the home matches (0 tied with UD Las Palmas and Hércules CF).

It is the pending subject of new coach José Bordalás: to find the missed power at home. The new boss landed in Madrid with a very clear idea of the lineup and it has used a 4-2-3-1 figure in his previous three matches.

The main novelty is that centre midfielder Sergio Mora Sánchez, who has played in 20 of the 26 games on the season, is suspended. It’s expected that ex-Las Palmas Jonathan Ñíguez ´Jony’ is going to replace him performing alongside captain Rubén Sanz at midfield.

The rest should be the same team that defeated SD Ponferradina on the road. Galician Dani Giménez defends the goal, ex-Mallorca man Pau Cendrós, who signed for AD Alcorcón in the winter window playing his first game on the last weekend, performs at the right side of the defense. Ex-Levante Ángel Sánchez plays at the left, while the centre-backs are veterans Héctor Verdés and Frenchman Jean-Sylvain Babin.

Francisco Javier Peral ‘Javito’ is the familiar face at the squad. The ex-Depor man is finally having minutes in Spain and is the current Pichichi at the team with four goals scored. He will attack from the right wing. Julián Cerdá ‘Juli’, who has netted three goals in the league, attack from the left flank, ex-Mirandés Antonio Martinez is the playmaker and ex-Real Madrid Castilla Óscar Plano is the central attacker.

23-year-old Óscar Plano has only scored once in the league, which is a common thing at this squad as the central attackers have only netted four goals –the lowest number at Segunda- It’s just another explanation for the lack of goal at this team as the wingers and midfielders are the ones carrying with the weight of the goals (12 of 26 goals, 46% of the total).

Keeper Dani Giménez was talking before the game about the fact of being facing Depor, ”They only allow a few goals. Within the last games they are playing more openly, maybe that’s the reason why the rivals can harm them a little more. But the name is also an influence. It’s clear that when you face Depor, compared to other Segunda teams, you go out with a bigger respect. It shouldn’t be like that, but the name Depor still imposing and surely they have great players. They mark the difference up front, and if you don’t harm them, then surely they will end doing it to you.”

List of picked players: It will be released until Sunday
