The calm of past weeks was suddenly broke off by the injury cases that hit the team on last weekend and the suspension of Luisinho. The rival arrives to the meeting after only winning 2 of the last 13 games.

For the last two weeks coach Fernando Vázquez has faced a relaxing situation at the moment of preparing the games, because there were no casualties at his team. This peace was suddenly broke during the past weekend as the first team suffered two injury cases and a suspension.

Right-back Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure´ was a last-minute casualty for the game against Hércules CF after suffering an injury in the last training before the clash. The scans detected that the Madrilenian defender sustained an adductor muscle elongation on his left thigh, a problem that should sideline him for one week.

The worse part came during the game. Winger Diogo Salomão only lasted seven minutes on the pitch and was replaced after his knee was twisted when he was trying to get the ball inside the rival’s area. He was stretched off and at the beginning it wasn’t expected that the case was serious.

But the scans confirmed that this was a serious case: an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury on his right knee, problem that’s sidelining him for the rest of the season. The Portuguese player will be operated on Friday by the doctors of Sporting CP, his parent club.

Later in the game defender/winger Luis Carlos Correia ‘Luisinho’ was sent off after apparently insulting the linesman. Despite the complaints of partners like Manuel Pablo, who doubted the referee is telling the truth, the Portuguese player was suspended for four games, so he’s missing the games against CD Mirandés, Barcelona B, Real Zaragoza and CD Tenerife.

The three casualties are reducing the number of available players to eighteen, exactly what the coach needs for his list of picked men. Although there’s the chance that Laure could be available for Saturday, this after training with the group on Wednesday. The player hasn’t received the medical okay to play and his situation will be assessed at the end of the week.

At the same time Juan Carlos didn’t end Wednesday’s session after feeling pain in the hip; he was replaced during the game against Hércules due to a knock in this same region, but the doctors expect the playmaker could be fit for the trip to Miranda de Ebro.

Since the number of players in the trainings is low the coach picked Bicho and Álvaro Lemos from Fabril. The duo trained with the first team during Wednesday’s session, though it isn’t expected that they will be picked for the game.

Laure was the main novelty on Wednesday
At CD Mirandés, coach Carlos Terrazas arrived in December in order to correct the negative moment lived by the team, but so far nothing has changed and Los Rojillos are currently penultimate at the standings after only adding two victories within the last thirteen matches.

For the game against Deportivo the casualties are centre midfielder Manuel Lucena and centre-back Jon Vega. Lucena has been chased by the injuries on this season and only played ten games so far. He was dragging a groin injury and seemed fine, but suffered a relapse and his missing this game. Meanwhile, Vega is a 19-year-old promise from the B squad that trains with the first team, though he hasn’t played yet on this Segunda season. He’s out with a muscle problem.
