Despite the next game is the more important one on the season, several issues have been focusing the attention. Like the cases with Luis Fernandez or the problems to renew Juan Dominguez. The coach has a full squad available.

Showdown looming at Liga Adelante 2013/14. Only four matchdays are left and leaders Depor are entertaining runners-up SD Eibar on Sunday (Riazor, 12h00 CET). It is the more important game on the season as the winner will surely make a giant step towards the promotion.

The club expects at least 30,000 fans as the game was declared as the “peña game” on this season. The Canarian derby played on last weekend UD Las Palmas-CD Tenerife had the best attendance of the current Segunda tournament (31,123) and Depor can break this mark on Sunday.

However, the attention seem to be focused in other issues. On Wednesday, coach Fernando Vázquez expelled striker Luis Fernández at the last part of the training session, just when he was testing the possible formations ahead of the game. He was sent back to the gym, while the rest of the team stayed on the pitch. The coach didn’t like the attitude of the player during the session and it’s a clear demonstration of the lack of satisfaction of the coach with the player. Luis hasn’t been picked for 9 of the last 15 liga meetings.

Then the announced problems to sign a contract extension with midfielder Juan Dominguez. It was something explained by sporting advisor Fernando Vidal on Wednesday (see the related article). It just launched the debate about the convenience of selling the player during the summer (he ends his contract in 2015).

These distractions are diverting the attention only a few days before the meeting. In the meantime Vázquez has a full squad available for the match; Laure returns from suspension, winger Ibrahim Sissoko is dragging a knee knock from the past game against Alavés, he skipped part of Tuesday’s training and was having issues in the following two sessions, but it’s expected that he will be fit to play. It called the attention the continuous instructions that he received from Depor’s coach, mainly on Wednesday’s training.

Striker Diego Ifrán is dragging a finger contracture on his right hand suffered during Thursday’s session, but the problem won’t sideline him from the last four games on the season as he will be wearing a protective glove. Finally, Bicho and Álvaro Lemos were training the full week with the first team. Fabril ended the season on last weekend and the duo will now spent their time with Vázquez.

At SD Eibar, there was some concern after the team lost two straight matches that allowed Depor to regain the first spot at the standings, but later the Basques reacted and have added 7 of the last 9 points in dispute. Now they arrive to the Riazor convinced of the possibility of the victory in order to return to the top of the league.

The squad is composed by 23 players and luckily for coach Gaizka Garitano he arrives to the crucial part of the season without injury concerns. The only player out of the game against Depor is right-back Eneko Bóveda, who is sidelined since the past month due to a knee injury. Within the last two games the coach has made some rotations, but for the visit to the Riazor it’s expected the strongest possible formation, which includes Jota Peleteiro (7) and Mikel Arruabarrena (7), the two top-scorers at the team.
