First opportunity to secure the promotion; Lopo is doubtful and Juan Dominguez is suspended. Luisinho and Marchena are fine. The rival is having important injury problems and is close to secure the permanence.

Special week at Abegondo as Deportivo is facing the first opportunity to mathematically secure the promotion to Primera División. For it the team needs a positive result visiting CD Numancia (Los Pajaritos, Sunday, 20h00 CET) plus a combination of results in the games of UD Las Palmas and Real Murcia. The club is already preparing the celebration, though the details haven’t been released to the public.

Coach Fernando Vázquez has requested to make the trip to Soria with the full squad and the club has accepted the petition, though it will be a long trip as Depor will travel via bus (621 Km). A journey that lasts almost seven hours.  The initial plan was to stay in Soria on Sunday’s night, but the players requested to make the returning trip after the final whistle, either to celebrate the promotion in A Coruña or to start preparing the last game at the Riazor as soon as possible in case of a failure or positive results by the direct rivals.

Vázquez will have the casualty of Juan Dominguez, the centre midfielder picked the fifth yellow card on the season in the past game against SD Eibar and is suspended. It means that Cezary Wilk is having the option to play again, though the coach has other options.

Meanwhile, Albert Lopo sustained an adductor muscle injury on his left thigh during Thursday’s session. The centre-back will undergo new scans on Friday, but it’s highly probable that the Catalan man will miss Sunday’s game, which will increase the list of casualties to three as winger Diogo Salomão remains out with a knee injury.

Left-back/winger Luisinho and centre-back Carlos Marchena have faced issues during the week. The Portuguese player is dragging muscle problems and didn’t complete the last part of Sunday’s and Tuesday’s sessions. The ex-Valencia skipped the same trainings as he was dragging a hamstring problem. On Thursday’s both players were available and will be fit to play on Sunday.

If the casualty of Lopo is confirmed then the coach will only have 19 players available for the meeting, and he could end including winger Álvaro Lemos and playmaker Bicho in the trip, the duo from Fabril that has trained with the squad during the week. Depor B ended the season a fortnight ago, but it remains training at Abegondo during the afternoons as the first team could need some backups for the last three games.

At CD Numancia, the team reached the 50 points after the latest victory at SD Ponferradina (0-1). No one has suffered the relegation at Segunda after adding 51 points, so it can be said that they only need one more point to certify the permanence. However nothing is for sure in a league so tight like this one and the general feeling in Soria is that they need one more victory.

Coach Juan Antonio Anquela is facing several key absences for the game, especially on the sides. And it’s that the two starting full-backs are unavailable for the meeting against Depor. On last week right-back Carlos Akapo sustained a hamstring injury on his left leg that’s sidelining him for a couple of weeks, while left-back Adrián Ripa is suspended after picking a fifth yellow card on the season.

And there are more problems; striker and the captain of the team Javier Del Pino has been out the full second round after suffering a knee ligaments injury in the game against SD Eibar (January 12). Ex-Depor centre-midfielder Antonio Tomás is also out for the rest of the season with a muscle strain injury suffered during the game against Real Zaragoza (April 12).

In this way Anquela only has 17 players available for the meeting against Deportivo; he will have to complete the list for the game with a player coming from Numancia B. At least centre midfielder David González is returning from a suspension.
